PORSCHE 911 SC Targa, 1978 I bought this car only a few weeks ago for use this summer. I am an amateur small time collector of neat cars, I am not a dealer or an expert, I just like old cars. This one I bought because it is a good car and I particularly like these older air cooled SC PORSCHE. The experts agree that is is the aircooled PORSCHE to buy now, fast going up in price. Nice history of long and careful ownership. Now I have to sell it, but I did like it and I will miss it. Below you will find the original description from the previous owner who knew the car better than I do. I agree with the description and there have been no nasty surprises or accidents. The car is pretty well as it was when I bought it. And a great car it is. I would add that the shifter is a little too vague (worn bushings?) and that the car could use a minor tune up as is has been used too little over the years. I have been driving it without any problem every day, but if I where to keep it I would do the usual fluid and general check. Also the speedo is inaccurate, reads too high, but the odometer is working normally. There is a snall chip on the windshield. I bought the car for a good price and simply want my money back, or near. Silver on tan. Has been in the family for 25+ years. Has only been driven as a hobby car. It has always been heated garage kept. Recent service. Original cam tensioners, not upgraded. Other than the blaupunkt cd player (which is correct german) we have not modified the car in any way. Other than services when it needed it the car has always been reliable and fun to drive. Shifts incredibly well. New starter installed at last service. There have been no accidents during the time we owned the car and none declared from the previous original owner we bought it from. There was some paintwork done on one of the fenders, you can see the clear coat sort of, but it has never bothered us, hard to see unless I pointed it out, thought I should mention it. There is a small dent in the pass door which can be seen in the pic. The doors, hood and trunk fit great. There is the tool kit, jack,spare wheel and tire and original book that goes with the car. Pic to come later. The tires are pirellis in good condition. The fuch alloys are in good shape, some minor pitting starting where the black meets the polished alloy around the outer edge, but overall excellent condition, wider version wheels in the back. The a/c has not been run in many years, like most Porsche 911sc's, has incredible engine power zapping. We never bothered to fix it due to that. The leather seats are in incredible shape, always cleaned and leather fed. The carpets are in good shape, clean, but could be replaced in the future if the buyer wished. All trim is in good condition as well as the rubbers. The alloy around the targa top is in great shape, not scratched. I cannot tell you if the car would leak as during our time we owned it we never drove it in the rain (yes its true, even in Vancouver!), we have other cars. The yellowy look on the inside of the hood etc. is the original factory "wax" or what they call it and I was advised to not remove it for authenticity. The targa top is the original vinyl, the headliner is in really good shape, clean and not faded. We are selling it as our family is larger now and I desire a four seater convertible something....mustang or what have you. Hate to see it go.
