Vehicle Detail

Mustang II for sale Relisted because winner has other financial priorities due to Hurricane Irene. For sale is a 1975 Ford Mustang II coupe VIN 5R02F125452. The car starts and runs through all the gears with no slipping, including reverse; the brakes are firm. It has a factory 302 V8, 2 bbl carb, dual exhaust, C4 automatic transmission and an open 8 inch rear. It also came from the factory with power steering, power front disk brakes, and air conditioning, smog system and electronic ignition. The original color is code 5M medium Copper poly (PPG #2504) and is called medium chestnut metallic by Ford. The interior is tan. It’s now a Cadillac red metallic exterior. It is a single family owned car since new in 1975. The door to body gaskets are good. The interior is in good condition with no rips except the one in the headliner. The interior seat facing cloth was refreshed in 1991 and is also in good shape. The total mileage is 234,406. Documentation provided includes: the original owners’ manual, 5 volume shop manual, and a letter from Ford Customer Service Division detailing original specifications and options. Additional pictures are at: http://home.md.metrocast.net/~frainwp/Mustang%20II/ Features 302 2 bbl engine with Motorcraft 2150 carburetor with automatic kick down linkage. Dual exhaust which is still factory original, except for the catalytic converters. The CATS were replaced in 1997. The heads were refreshed less than 5,ooo miles ago with new valves and in very good shape. The camshaft and lifters and push rods are less than 100 miles old. Factory air conditioned 8 inch open differential 1 inch sway bar in front, 5/8 inch sway bar in back – taken from a Mustang II Cobra II. C4 automatic transmission that shifts well and has no slipping forward and reverse. Power steering works well, no leaks. Radiator core is 4 row with original tanks. Factory is 3 row. No leaks in radiator. I have an after market radiator on with less than 1,000 miles on it. It is a 3 row used on later mustang II’s. I have the original equipment to put the older version 3 row radiator back on esp. both the later fan shroud and the 1975 fan shrud. Mallory dual point electronic distributor, 7mm Moroso sidewinder spark plug wires. Power brakes. Front disc brakes and stops well. Brake booster in very good shape. Rear drums recently serviced . Car was aligned in 2009. Original wheels. Including four original pony centers made of metal, not plastic. Manifold, and vacuum switches are in very good shape. I replaced the vacuum switches with new ones in 2009. Interior is in good shape, no cracks in the dash. All of the electrical works including interior and exterior lights, dash lights, dash gauges, engine gauges. However, the oil pressure gauge light does not come on. The wipers work. Water pump new. Timing chain cover new. Harmonic dampener is NOS which I put on in 2009. No water leaks. Comes with the original trans pan not on the car and a Trick Flow trans pan installed on the car. Electronic ignition system intact and operational. Smog parts original and complete. Not on car. Negatives Short Block must be replaced. The original short block was replaced with a circa 1979 302 short block bored .06 over in 1991 when the car had 183,000 miles. I put 50,000 miles on the current short block. In 2009 I put in a new camshaft and noticed the camshaft bearings looked worn. I did a compression test and confirmed the cylinders are also worn. That’s when I stopped driving it. The engine exhibits positive pressure in the crank case with air/oil coming out of engine seals, but not into the water jacket, with the engine running. As well as good heads and manifolds, the camshaft lifters and pushrods, crankshaft, pistons, timing chain and cover, the oil pan, can all be reused. Dry compression (PSI) is: 1 – 40, 2 – 90, 3 – 90, 4 – 90, 5 – 70, 6 – 110, 7 – 110, 8 – 70. Wet compression (PSI) is: 1 – 55, 2 – 115, 3 – 120, 4 – 115, 5 – 100, 6 – 140, 7 – 145, 8 – 85. Intake manifold idle (750 rpm) vacuum is 16 psi and shaky. Several rust spots in the wheel wells body panels. There is a large rust spot next to the passenger side rear brake lights, and one on the A pillar on the passenger side rear window. These are shown in the pictures. There is a dent in the front driver quarter panel also shown. Paint is pealing off of the cowl. The cowl is galvanized and not rusting. Air conditioning is not working. All of the parts are accounted for and included. There is a leak in the transmission unrelated to the transmission pan seal. I believe it is at the shift linkage. Replace the cabin carpet. It’s faded and installed poorly. The oil pressure sending unit is inoperative. Small rip in the headliner.
