Vehicle Detail

1978 Dodge Lil Red Express Pickup Truck. I am a private seller, not a dealer. This truck has been in my family for about 20 years. The truck was partially restored in about 1995, which included a top end engine overhaul: lower end was checked and fine , we had heads reconditioned and rebuilt with all new valves and parts, new lifters, cam, pushrods, intake, new Edelbrock 4 bbl. carb, a cleanup and engine paint, Trans is the original 727 auto which was rebuilt at the same time, a trans cooler was added, The ignition box and related parts and wires were replaced. I replaced some of the interior parts at the time including door panels, and dash surround and glove box and all parts were dyed black, this is starting to wear off and needs to be resprayed. No cracks!. We also changed the carpet with a year one repro and had the bench seat rebuilt with new foam and a new repro seat kit from Legendary Interiors. The seat still looks new. The truck is a 360 v8 high output engine, with the original exhaust manifolds, duals into the stainless stacks, This year truck had no catalytic converters, Right now the exhaust pipes from engine to stacks are rusted from sitting and need replacing. This is a factory AC truck and most of the system is intact including the compressor and condensor, you will have to get the correct dash control panel to make system operational. The rear axle and diff. had a loud noise in it about 7 years ago which led to a complete Diff. rebuild using all new USA gears and parts, original axles were reused with new bearings, The ratio is still 3.55, but was changed to a sure grip posi. I spent over $1000.in the rear alone. Moving on to the body of truck, all the wood had been replaced back in 95 but most of it needs to be refinished or replaced again because the truck has been outside. The wood is not rotted, but most of the varnish is gone from the sun and weather. There is some rust on the truck, all the normal areas; lower door edges, rear fender corner near steps, The worst rust is on the inside cab ceiling above the sunvisors and above the door windows, Over the years the screw holes on the outside sunvisor have been letting water in and this caused the rust, It is only on the inside and I dont see any rust on outer roof. I have not removed visor ,there may be rust hidden under visor. Now heres the good part, A few years ago I purchased a 1978 power wagon and removed the complete rust free cab roof to be included with sale of truck, In addition to the roof I will include a very nice 78 hood, L & R complete doors with all glass and a 78 grille, My truck was changed years ago to look like a 79 model by changing the hood, grille and changing to the square 79 headlights. I always wanted to change the parts back but was always working on my other project cars and never got to the Lil Red. Whoever buys the pickup will get all my parts that I have accumulated including the body parts, complete roof and many interior and misc. parts, even a pair of nos armrests, I am not saying you have to change the roof to repair but its better to have the whole part and use the sections you need, my body guy was going to graft in the ceiling skin at the factory seams, It all depends on who does the work. Lastly the frame and suspension are all good and solid, the brake work the master cylinder has been changed recently . The wood inside bed needs to be replaced since its the original wood from factory, I have added a nice lift up bed cover on hydraulics and also stainless tailgate chain kit. There is al so a heavy duty receiver installed on rear, (bolted on ) from the 1 time I towed my Charger to a show. I am selling this truck because i have no indoor storage and i dont want the rust to progress any further. Any questions please ask, The actual mileage is around 80 thousand. The truck is also for sale locally at my house, so I may have to end auction early if someone buys it during auction, Thanks I just added a few extra pics of frame, extra roof, inside cab, I am at the picture limit, so if someone wants a specific picture i can email to you . Thanks
