Vehicle Detail

1961 BMW R60 (R60/2 to some), low mileage survivor with 1967 R69S engine Tons more pics here than Ebay will let me load ! http://kwc.smugmug.com/Other/1961-R60/18768747_RPqCbH Youtube video so you can hear it talk! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og7mQpLOPlU 11,158 miles on the chassis, more powerful 1967 R69S engine with unknown miles swapped in in the 1970s owned by a friend of mine in my riding club and his wife since 1965 ! he is elderly and giving up riding and the bike, which is like a member of the family frame plate (shown in photos) was not re-attached after painting but is included the chassis miles are correct, they only rode it locally on poker runs etc motor was swapped in due to a scored piston in the original plant clean Illinois title in hand, no liens, VIN is 621247 kickstart only, here you will notice the high compression engine as well ! best of all, the sidecar mounting points all appear to be present pipes are aftermarket (Japanese) and quiet / pretty solid, showing some rust at outlet, not rattling or buzzing though bike has been constantly running throughout their ownership starts readily, idles, the clutch, brakes and gears all feel great on the road charges strongly, good battery, all engine and chassis electrics work except the horn, no oil smoke period correct Wixom fairing with original paint (tipover stress cracks in paint on right side) and some touchup (shown), no cracks in fairing period correct crash bars, backrest, and highway pegs Wixom bag mounts and folding luggage rack included with nice chrome (panniers not included) bike has been painted once and paint looks pretty good, pinstriping just ok, tank emblems look nice slight bit of rash on taillight trim, dent in one head pipe midway along, some gouges in both valve covers minor oil weeps here and there, nothing alarming has added sidestand, centerstand missing the boot tab red tank lining still in great shape, some microcracks in speedo lens (common) could use new shift rubber, two driver footpeg rubbers (split), glove box gasket new driveshaft boot included (not installed) as are 4 new unistalled pushrod seals includes original key, factory tool kit and owner's manual for the bike (cover split and slight water rippling but pretty good) no splits in the breadloaf seat, Earles forks in great shape, does NOT have the frame mounted air pump but mounting points there tires are one year old! a timeless classic airhead you can ride every day, or go search out that Stieb sidecar you always wanted ! $250 deposit due within 48 hours of at auction end (non-refundable if you bail for your own reasons), balance due upon pickup or prior to shipping formsof payment are wire transfer or (confirmable and cleared) bank checks I can ship this bike with a reputable, insured carrier who specializes in motorcycle shipping in enclosed trucks, email me for a cost estimate before bidding On Aug-30-11 at 18:56:40 PDT, seller added the following information: ******* possible correction, the motor serial number of 653054 may indicate it is an R69 engine not an R69S (still 7 HP more than the R60 motor) but do your own research, the year of the swap was 1967, not necessarily a 1967 engine, probably an older engine if an R69********On Aug-31-11 at 10:47:24 PDT, seller added the following information: *******ALSO, ALTHOUGH 1961 AND 1960 BOTH APPEAR ON THE TITLE, I BELIEVE THE BIKE TO BE A 1960, NOT A 1961******On Aug-31-11 at 15:09:22 PDT, seller added the following information: ****** MORE DETAILS: Another Ebayer tells me those are not Wixom bag mounts, rather they are Buco mounts for the Twinmaster and smaller city bag. These bags are occasionally available at swap meets or on ebay. He also noted that the rear rack is a Folding Denfeld rack**********
