Vehicle Detail
Restored 1968 Volvo 1800s with a competely rebuilt B20 motor with less then 1500 miles since overhaul.Details of the rebuilt motor include 8 bolt crank with a .030 bore ,B20f head converted to burn unleaded fuel with hardenend seats and new exhaust valves, double IPD valve springs, aluminum timing gear, isky street cam,new oil pump, new fuel pump and new water pump.Pertronix electronic ignition, completely rebuilt SU carbs including new throttle shafts, K&N air filters,Rebuilt triple core radiator, Brand new brake booster, completely new clutch kit,new drive shaft u-joints,new rear brake wheel cylinders ,new front brake pads, new exhaust system with IPD header, new 65 amp alternator, optima red top battery, new koni classic shocks in the rear, front shocks are used Bilsteins, rare IPD Volvo alloy valve cover( no longer available with the Volvo script) Heavy duty IPD front sway bar. "D" type overdrive . The motor in this car purrs! Brand new hood insulaton kit. New Volvo outside mirrors. Body and interior details as follow. The car was orignally code 94 (green) but was stripped down and painted in a custom red color. The paint job is of a very high quality but there are a few minor scratches if you look closely. I have 1/3 gallon of the paint so there should be no issues of touch up. The owner who did the restoration went with an early 1800s look with 1966 model year chrome, grill and steering wheel. He also chose not to reinstall the front and rear windshield trim and I did not get it with the car.New windshield rubber front and rear and both front and rear windshield are Volvo and they appear to be brand new.The seats are the 1970,71 type with the recaro recliner mechanism and headrest. They are not leather but they have been redone and they are in fine condition. The door panels are new and they look that way. New dash cap covers for the upper and lower pads.New interior carpet but I would go with the original cut patterns as availible from VP auto parts or Swedish Treasures. The clock, oil pressure and fuel guages have new vdo type instruments installed in the original pods. There are also two vdo aux guages for voltage and vacum located next to the heater controls. Prior owner has the overdrive switch installed on the dash and it is rigged to work only in 4th gear.New door seals. Things that need attention. 1. There is a small oil leak from the front of the engine 2. The tach is out of calibration and reads much too high 3.The horn and turn signals are not working. This may be the result of installing an earlier style 1800 steering wheel but that is only a guess. 4.The speedometer needle bounces and it may need a new cable.5.the trunk area is painted black rather then red. Summary, This is a stunning looking 1800s that draws compliments wherever it goes. The car runs and drives wonderfully but do not expect to be driving a new car such as a Miata or Honda. These cars are best suited for someone who can perform basic mechanical repairs. They are simple and easy to maintain but it is a 43 year old automobile and it will require tinkering on occasion. The car is being sold as is where is with no warranty . I have described the car as best as I can including any known imperfections. Preinspections are encouraged. I can help with shipping if the winning bidder is an overseas buyer. I have the car for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is located in Sunny San Diego!
