Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is stately, gorgeous, mechanically excellent example of a 1929 Franklin S-130 Club Sedan. Restored by a well known collector in Oregon in 2001, this car was nicely prepared as a wonderful weekend driver/parade car. Unfortunately, the owner passed away unexpectedly a few short years later and this car (like all of his cars) was set up for storage by his wife and son in a large, insulated barn on his property. His widow decided to downsize and sell the property, at which point they sold off the collection. The current owner was fortunate enough to have acquired this Franklin at that time, and as an active collector and member of the Franklin Club, he set about completely going through the mechanical and electrical systems with his master mechanic. After extensive mechanical work, a complete brake job and improvements to several cosmetic details, the car is ready for its next proud owner. The copper paint is in great shape, very presentable and marred only by minimal imperfections that don't show up in the pictures and in no way detract from the car's wonderful overall appeal. The finish is accented by light pinstriping and a chestnut brown accent color on the door details, tastefully defining the car's styling cues. The chrome is is in excellent condition as is much of the glass, with the exception of the windshield and driver window, which both have cracks that don't seem to be going anywhere. The car's body is extremely straight with correct panel fit and gaps and it is completely free of rust, including the undercarriage. The vinyl landau top is perfect and the wood spoke wheels are in excellent condition with tires that have less than 100 miles on them. The car's interior is in great condition with seats, interior paneling, headliner and carpets all free of noticeable imperfections. The car is also mechanically excellent, starting easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly. An electric fuel pump has been added for reliability and the transmission shifts as it should, smooth through each gear without any slipping or grinding. The speedometer needs a mast-cable to operate and and the car needs a horn, but beyond that it's certainly ready for any long weekend trek. This is an excellent opportunity at an extremely presentable mechanically sound '29 Franklin. It makes the perfect weekend, event or parade car and with very little sorting could perform marvelously at car shows. You don't come across them like this every day, so please bid accordingly. We want this car to go to a great home, so please feel free to email me or give us a call at (805) 886-1823 or (805) 708-2404. Please feel free to visit us online at Goodman Reed. GOODMAN REED MOTORCARSWhile I have a California dealer license, I’m not your typical dealer. I’ve always had an appreciation for classic and sports cars and have always bought and sold them to create a small revolving personal collection which has afforded me the opportunity of meeting many other interesting enthusiasts, including the owner of this Franklin. As such, this is a consignment car and can be seen by appointment at my warehouse in Santa Barbara. I try to give accurate descriptions of the cars I’m selling, but I’m not an expert and I encourage and am happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms my ability to make sales with other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction's end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction's end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however I'd be more than happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction's end. Thanks for your interest.
