No Reserve Auction on a Rare & Rustfree 1991 Honda CRX HF with a 5-Speed Transmission. This stock unmodified CRX HF had originated from the Southwest (Arizona). Considering the age & mileage of this rare HF (last year made of the second and final generation CRX) the car is in very good overall condition. The HF (High Fuel economy) front wheel drive CRX has the 4-cyl. 1.5L MPI (multiport fuel injection) engine (D15B6). The HF is EPA mileage rated for 51/52 mpg highway & 47/49 mpg City. The HF engine has 8 valves compared to 16 valves in the DX & SI models. With the HF's lower horsepower rating, lower running RPM's, and tall transmission gearing, all relates to high fuel mileage economy. Another benefit with the HF engine and its lower running RPM's is there is less overall wear & tear on the engine, which relates to high total engine mileage can be obtained and capable of outlasting the higher revving DX & SI engines or most other cars. I had owned another CRX HF (1985) that had over 308,000 miles on it and it still ran & handled great. The 1.5L engine starts up easily, runs great and does not burn, smoke, leak, or use excessive oil. A sign given the cars mileage that it has been well maintained with regularly scheduled oil & filter changes. The cylinder compressions are fine and within engine specs (#1,2,3 cyls- 200 PSI, #4- 190 PSI). The 5-speed transmission and clutch work properly and shifts through gears smoothly. The brakes and exhaust system are in good condition. There are no known mechanical problems or issues that I am aware of, and would not hesitate to drive the CRX anywhere. Will be taking the CRX to my garage mechanic for a thorough inspection prior to turning over to a new owner (any mechanical problems found, I will have repaired). About the only thing that is non-stock is the cars Radio/CD player. A prior owner had also replaced the original rear interior storage deck with a more heavy-duty carpeted deck. The CRX is equipped with an A/C System, but needs refrigerant recharging. The 175/75R13” radial tires have approx. 80% treadlife remaining on the back tires and 40-50% on the front tires. There is no broken or cracked glass, and all lights, turn signals, wipers, and heating controls work fine. As can be seen in the photo, the drivers side seat back has a fabric tear on the outer side wing, which I understand was a common wear area on CRX seats. Besides that the interior is clean and overall in very good condition for the year. The body, strut towers and undercarriage are rustfree. The paint still has a good shine with only a few minor dings on the body. On the drivers side rear wheel-well there is a 1”x3” area where the paint has blistered. As seen in a photo, just below the drivers side headlight there is a dent on the rubber/plastic bumper along with a tear on the rubber molding strip. The top of the rear hatch has a couple of small areas where the paints clear coating has flaked off. If the final bid is high enough, I will include with the sale a spare CRX HF Engine with only 62K on it (Block, Head & Oil-pan). Along with the Experian Auto Check Report, a Full Clean Carfax Vehicle History Report is included with the sale. The State of Maine does not issue Titles for vehicles that are over 15 years old. If an out-of-state buyer requires a Title, then I am able to sign over & transfer my current registration to them; which should be adequate in obtaining a Title in their State. Along with a Bill of Sale, the original factory 1991 Owners Manual and a Haynes Service Book is included. The A/C blows cool air, but not cold. If the bidding gets up around $ 3000, I will plan on having the A/C System recharged with R12 or R134a refrigrant prior to turning over to the winning bidder.
