Back by popular demand......Actually, back on the auction block due to last week's high bidder bailing out of the deal. Please make sure to have everyone involved in the purchase on board before bidding: Your wife, your brother, your banker, and in last week's case, your body and paint man. I'm going to be a little tougher this time around. If you have less than steller feedback, ie: a no-pay on a major item, please contact me before bidding, or I may be tempted to cancel your bid. IMPORTANT!!! Look at these additional pictures before bidding. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigmoparjeffs_pics/sets/72157627261167931/ Now that I'm done complaining, Back up for bids is a Ford Model A Coupe that I recieved as payment for some work that I am doing. It belonged to my friend's father, who has owned the car since 1961. It's been off the road since 1965, and unfortunately, has spent most of that time outside, under poly tarps. I'm pretty sure that the car is a 1930. I have what I believe to be the original Pennsylvania title from when the car was new, but it's very short on information. There are no dates on it, just the owners name, "Ford Coupe", the title number, and VIN, which matches the numbers stamped on the block. The title is signed by the original owner, who passed away decades ago, but it is not notorized. I have a bill of sale from the original owner to the man's father who I got the car from. There are pictures of the title in with the photos on Flickr. As you can see in the pictures, the car is very complete, only missing a few odds and ends. The body has quite a bit of surface rust, and some rust through on the lower parts of the body panels, especially in the rear of the car, and the middle floor. The frame is in nice shape, with only surface rust. The wood structure in the roof is mostly gone. There are various dents in the fenders and one on the the left hood panel. When I got the car the fenders and running boards were not on it, so I put them back on for the pictures. I used enough hardware to make things sturdy, but didn't install every nut and bolt. One of the running board brackets is broken off, and so is the right rear fender brace. The metal interior trim was removed long ago and painted, so it's in good shape. I wanted to try and get the car running before the auction, but I found that the carburetor was all rusty inside from water getting in through the un-capped fuel tank. It's going to need a new carb. I was surprised to find that the engine wasn't stuck after all these years, not even a little. I squirted some oil in the cylinders, then gave it a turn with the hand crank, and it spun right over. I installed the spark plugs, and it feels like it has good compression. I was told that it ran very well before it was taken off the road. The cylinder head has been cracked for a long time, from before it was parked. When I picked it up, the front brakes were stuck to the drums, so I had to remove the shoes to get it to roll. The clutch seems to operate, and the transmission clicks into all 4 gears with ease. Included with the car are 2 sets of rims. The original five 19 inchers are are in very rough condition. The four 21 inchers aren't too bad, except for a broken spoke. There are some tools that came with it, plus the hand crank handle that I forgot to put in the picture. The car is located near Dublin, PA, and can be inspected in person. No reserve this time. I'm putting it up and letting it ride. The auction will go till the end, as I don't like to make deals to end them early. The car is sold as-is, and shipping is the winning bidder's responsibility. I can deliver the car for a fee, but for distances over 200 miles it will probably be cheaper to have someone else do it, though you are welcome to ask for a price. Overseas bidders please contact me first so that I can let your bids go through. I can deliver the car to the docks in New Jersey for $200.00 The auction ends Sunday, August 28th, at 9:00 pm, Eastern Time. Good Luck!!! On Aug-21-11 at 18:23:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Payment: A $250 deposit is due within 48 hours from the end of the auction. The balance by 6pm Sunday, September 4th.
