alexblakeabbywayne store Located: Florham Park (Morris County) Garage-kept 1997 Nissan Maxima needs new home Who would be a good new owner of this car? Someone who needs an inexpensive, but reliable way of transportation. The car itself only has one minor mechanical issue, and several small inconveniences that will be explained in detail, but is a Nissan that has never been in a major accident or have any frame damage. It is not a luxury car with all the bells and whistles but with some TLC can be a great everyday drive-to-work/school car. Why is this being sold? I have two cars, this one has been sitting in a garage for the past few months. I had to take my new car to the shop to get a paint job. I drove this Maxima for a week and realized I don't really need this back-up car anymore. Why is the starting bid so low? I am not desperate for money to pay rent/loansharks/the mob/etc so I basically just want to sell this so I don't have to keep paying insurance. I will get a rental car if I need one in the future. May I come and take a look? Sure, send me a note and we'll set something up. I am in Morris county. Is this an impound/salvage title? I can't believe you're starting it so low! No, this is a privately owned car by a non-smoker, non-420er so there is no scent and the car is clean. It has never been in salvage condition and has no frame damage to the car. OK, so what are "small inconveniences" mentioned earlier? First, the key dislocated in the driver's side door so you will need to use the remaining half key to open the door. This actually works as a great theft-control system as no one else but the person who has the special half-key will be able to open the door. Second, the CD player was working fine, and then it started coming on and off and when I got a new car, the CDs were skipping a lot and not responding most of the time. It powers up, but just hasn't been working so I assume it is a small wiring issue, but no guarentees. The doors are harder to open than most cars, but not a problem for anyone who doesn't have a physical disability and is over the age of 10. Now, the infamous "check engine light" is on, and if you know late 90s Maximas (do a search on google) you will know this is mostly a light problem. The code was scanned as a "knock sensor" which doesn't affect the driveability of this car, but just want to be clear that the light is lit. The one mechanical issue with the car is that the front axel will need to be replaced soon, as it was damaged a few years ago in a minor side-swipe incident, causing the car to vibrate if you drive over 75 (which I don't normally). Other than that, the car is fine - engine never had any problems/transimission ditto. Brakes not only have been regularly replaced, but in addition to the pads and rotors the CALIPERS were also replaced (job cost $1,000+ ugh!). In fact, come to think of it, just about everything (including starter) has been replaced on this car except the motor and these Nissans last. This pretty much sums up everything that I am aware of, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask in case I am missing something. Is there anything else I need to know about this car? Not that I can think of. In conclusion, this is a great ride for anyone who needs a reliable, inexpensive way of transportation and I am willing to entertain offers under that Buy-It-Now price ONLY IF you can buy immediately (by the weekend at the latest). With a little TLC, it can be a great smooth ride. Thanks for reading! :)
