Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful 442 in factory correct Target Red with a white pinstripe. The car has a 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter and a 3.23 Positraction rear end. The engine is a 1970 455/370 horsepower Olds, 396021 F block with factory 406115 aluminum intake manifold, high flow C heads and Thorley headers. It has a recently re-built Quadrajet carb with electric choke. It starts and runs great! This is a rust-free car, the paint is very, very good but not perfect, there are some minor scratches but no orange peel, it shines beautifully which causes some noticeable reflection in the pictures. There are new ball joints and shocks in front. (The new rear shocks are included with the car, just not yet installed.) The brakes have been converted to disc in front, still drum in back. There is a new MSD distributor and electronic ignition. The car has power steering and brakes. Power top also. The interior is in tremendous condition and looks completely stock except for the three usual gauges mounted over the console. The dash vinyl was recently restored by Just Dashes and the bezels were professionally restored also. The stock AM radio was converted to AM/FM stereo and a removable speaker added, it sits on the transmission hump in the rear seat area, it sounds good. The FACTORY AIR works well, is cold but not ice cold. I've not worried about it as I never drive the car with the top up. It also has a tilt steering wheel, factory vacuum gauge and "sidewinder" tach, Again, just a flat out beautiful interior. The chrome, brightwork and trim are all very nice but not perfect. The undercarriage is rust free, all original floor pans and trunk floor. However, the undercarriage and bottom of the car are still original, it hasn't been restored like a car that had been totally dismantled and re-built would be. If someone had the desire and time to do that, great, but this car does not need a restoration, it is a very well preserved survivor with a few updates as mentioned. I forgot to put one of the boots on for the pictures. It comes with two, a near-mint original and a new reproduction. The weatherstripping, window whiskers, trunk and top seals are all new. In 1966 only, a tri-power option was available for these cars. A few years ago, I met a guy who had just taken a complete unit off his car, (he decided to go back to some ultra-performance 4-barrel) so I bought the whole set up from him and will include it with the car. I just never got around to installing it. Therefore I have no idea how well it runs but would probably have my carb guy go through it if I was going to use it. The setup is complete with chrome air filters. As a one year only option, these are expensive units IF you can find one. As I mentioned, new shocks are included. The tach was rebuilt and works however the power wire is not hooked up. Also, the speedometer cable is missing but again, a new one will be included. I had been wanting to take care of these items but due to recent shoulder surgery, am not currently able. This car is being sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. This auction may end early for any reason. Send me an e-mail or call me if you have any questions or would like to see other pictures. 651-247-3444
