The story behind this G. I imported it from the UK back in June with plans to restore (see restore below). Since then I have taken a new job in another state and no longer have the time or space to restore work on it. The G cleared customs ok and is GA registered - it has a GA tag and registration but no titlle since GA will not title vehicles older than 25 years old. All the original paper work from the UK and customs is present. 1985 230GE, fuel injected, 5 speed, power steering, new tint, new all weather seat covers in the front, cloth interior (2 small rips in passenger seat). Tires have a lot of miles left. This is a right hand drive model - very fun to drive, real attention getter. No AC. Interior is in really good condition. Original AM/FM/Cassette Blaupunkt stereo. Clutch master and slave cylinders replaced. Mechanically sound, very nice runner. Air & Oil Filters, rotor changed. Have new spark plugs and a few other parts. Note: Picture shows back seat folder forward. This is the same model used by NATO and the UN worldwide. It is a tough, work horse. Considered by many the best 4 x 4 ever made. Mercedes dependability and craftmanship. Note: This is NOT the same G you see running around with 5 doors and 22" wheels. You would never take those over-priced models off road for fear of getting a scratch on it. The Germans are laughing all the way to the bank on those versions, proving Americans will buy anything. Note: Gs are made in Austria. Classification is W460. To restore - there are around 6 rust bubbles. The back door, inside bottom where the weather stripping connects (weather stripping still connects) is rusty. You cannot see this from the outside. Once the rust is fixed, the truck will need to be repainted. Paint is dull and shiny in different areas. There are typical minor ding dints. The estimates I have been given to fix the rust right and a decent paint job are under $1000. If you wanted to add an AC unit, kits on the Internet start around $800, plus the labor to install. If you wanted to add mag wheels, I have seen from $800. for used.
