Vehicle Detail

Hi! Offered for sale is possibly the most rare car I have ever found. It is a FACTORY 1986 Mercury Topaz (same as Ford Tempo) LS Diesel Coupe. The LS package gives the car power locks, power windows, cruise control, tilt wheel, power drivers seat (yes, a power drivers seat!), and a luggage rack. The car runs and drives very good for a 1986 car (not new, but good- no shimmy's vibrations, etc). It's quiet also. Exhaust seems pretty good and it doesn't really smoke a lot when you start it or at idle. Just about what you would expect. I WOULD trust it to drive anywhere, anytime. It doesn't have any leaks and it starts very well, every time. The glow plugs work excellent. The transmission shifts in and out of all 5 gears with ease and works well in reverse too. Clutch is tight, no slippage. Brakes feel good. Engine runs smooth and has the expected power. Gauages all read good and normal with no warning lights. Interior is in very good condition for the year as well. Original owners manuals and diesel supplement manual INCLUDED as well copy of the order sticker with price, as well as extra set of keys. The car has the following with receipts to prove everything: BRAND NEW BATTERY and BRAND NEW MATCHING SET OF TIRES within the past 100 miles!! Within the past 10,000 miles over $1400 total has been spent maintaining the car, including new starter, new injection pump and timing belt, new wheel cylinders and brake booster, new parking brake cables, etc etc etc. It has been VERY WELL maintained. The car shows 49,150 miles (I drove it for 120 miles), and I acquired it from an elderly couple who bought it about 8 years ago, and they had purchased it from another elderly couple who pulled it behind a motor home, where the majority of miles rolled. I believe that when the people I bought it from bought it it had about 30,000 miles on it, and now it shows 49,150. Just assume it is 149,150. OK Here are the negatives: Has rust on bottom of car (not as bad as most around here) rockers aren't too bad- and underneath seems to have been protected pretty well from the dirt road they lived on, front bumper area got dinged at some point- small plastic piece missing by left headlight- middle piece seems replaced, air does not blow cold (may just need freon- I believe it pulls the motor down when you turn it on, but it's blowing regular air, the horn works but has a bypassed switch to operate- doesn't work on steering wheel, cruise does not engage do not know why, the regular fuel filter has been bypassed for a cheaper inline fuel filter but can easily be switched back (I actually put a new filter on when I bought it so you should be good here), the car has a little play in the road when driving- not a ton and expected for a 86 but wanted to mention, dings on car - esp on top by windshield have no idea why, and dent at bottom of passenger door and rocker- not too noticeable. By the way the glass is all good and I believe the windshield is original as it still has the Ford factory sticker on it. I think that speaks to the low amount of use this car has had. Remember it's a 1986 UNRESTORED car that runs good and I believe is a GREAT CAR for the money or I would not have bought it. I only buy GOOD CARS- Check the feedback. Here are the disclaimers!! TERMS AND CONDITIONS I consider myself a nice, respectful, and friendly person, and I like dealing with people who are also nice, honest, and respectful. I am old school when it comes to business, and I do not have any tolerance for "entitled" or "me" or "arrogant" or best of all the "educated idiot". For the sake of making it very easy for everyone to understand, I have these TERMS AND CONDITIONS: 1. This is an auction. This is sold "As Is". No Warranty. No exceptions. You understand that there is no recourse for future repairs, or any consideration to be made for current problems/issues with car disclosed or not. By bidding on this auction, you agree to these terms with no questions asked, no exceptions, no matter the case. 2. Statements and description of the vehicle are made by the opinion of the seller. Your bid on this auction reflects your opinion of the vehicle, not mine. It is a given that every vehicle I sell will have some rust (either surface rust or otherwise on frame, body, or somewhere because even West Coast cars have rust too), scratches, dents, dings, smells, stains, etc that you get with any used car. It is a used car, so expect wear and tear on the car in all of these areas. Read the description and look at the pics, but remember, they don't capture every detail. 3. You understand that at time of pickup, there will not be a "test drive" period before payment or final payment. You may verify the vehicle and the VIN and the title to ensure it is the vehicle you purchased. Any "inspections" must take place before you win the vehicle, not after. 4. All are welcome to test drive, inspect, and look at the vehicle, and ask questions via email or phone call before you bid on the vehicle. 5. The sellers responsibility begins and ends with providing the vehicle shown and displayed in the auction with a legal and clear title for the vehicle. 6. The description is simply based on the opinion of the seller, and once again, all bids must be placed based on the bidders opinion of the vehicle. 7. The definition of "hold harmless" is in effect on all of my auctions. By bidding you forfeit any rights to legal action or threats of any sort. I will not deal and I refuse to deal with people who sue (I never have sued, or ever threatened to sue and have never been sued). Again, by bidding and/or winning this auction you understand that there is NO legal recourse available to you for any reason on this auction, other than the promise that I make in providing the make and model car with VIN (and clear and legal title) advertised in this auction. 8. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. Vehicle to be picked up within 2 weeks, but exceptions can be made. Just call me to let me know what is going on. We will do our best to work with your shipper. I also may be able to pick you up at the airport. Sioux City is very easy and Omaha is a more difficult. Either way, this is a case by case basis. Please call. 9. $500 Non-Refundable Deposit Due within 24 hours via Paypal or cash. If you use paypal, add 3% to the $500 ($15). Full amount of vehicle due within 7 days of auction end, or at vehicle pickup, whichever comes first. If you do use paypal for the balance, again, add 3%. If you want to avoid the paypal fees, I will accept a cashiers check, money order, cash, or a wire transfer. No exceptions unless approved before you bid. Please call. 10. $119 Doc/Delivery/Prep Fee on Every Sale. On most vehicles, we spend an average of 4-8 hours on it either cleaning/detailing, and or appraising the car for the description. In addition, after the sale but before you get it, we spend a lot of time working with your shipper to ensure a smooth delivery. You are responsible for the tax title license and any fees your state requires. 20+ Years Experience Buying/Selling/Appraising Vehicles. I love this business and have always understood what makes a good car from a bad one, and literally look at between 1500-2000 cars per week in trying to find one's that are great buys, and still have good qualities. Most of them I buy based on the owner, not the car. If the owner is careless or if they are a jerk, I almost always pass. If they are friendly and seemed to have cared for the car, I'll buy it. By buying cars based on people- and not just the vehicle itself, I have honestly had tremendous success by avoiding major repairs, surprises, etc. Also- regardless of flaws, if a car has a good engine and transmission, they are usually good buys also. I tend to find cars that are excellent at the core, as I am not the type of dealer who buys them half running and poorly mechanical, patching it up to sell. I am the opposite, and you will not get that here. I'm like you, if I don't think it's a good runner, I pass!! You can count on my expertise in your vehicle!! Usually they are cars that I would personally like to own and would be happy to own. We take it very personal to do a great job in describing the item, the good, bad and ugly, and to treat you like we would want to be treated. We do promise to provide our best service and to do the best I can in providing the car you expect. I have sold many VW, Nissan, Jetta, Rabbit, Luv, Escort, and Golf and even Toyota diesels, and I can tell you that I know how to find a great car for the money 12 Years on Ebay!
