Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is a Ford Model A Coupe that I recieved as payment for some work that I am doing. It belonged to my friend's father, who has owned the car since 1961. It's been off the road since 1965, and unfortunately, has spent most of that time outside, under poly tarps. I believe that the car is a 1930. As I am no expert on Model A's, I'm basing that solely on the fact that it has a smooth instument cluster bezel. I have what's supposed to be the original Pennsylvania title from when the car was new, but it's very short on information. There are no dates on it, just the owners name, and "Ford Coupe", plus some numbers. The title is signed by the original owner, who passed away decades ago, but it is not notorized. If the title is important to you, I can e-mail a copy of it for your inspection before you bid. As you can see in the pictures, the car is quite complete, only missing a few odds and ends. The body has quite a bit of surface rust, and some rust through on the lower parts of the body panels, especially in the rear of the car. The frame is in nice shape, with only surface rust. The wood structure in the roof is mostly gone. There are various dents in the fenders and one of the hood panels. When I got the car the fenders and running boards were not on it, so I put them back on for the pictures. I used enough hardware to make things sturdy, but didn't install every nut and bolt. One of the running board brackets is broken off, and so is the right rear fender brace. The metal interior trim was removed long ago and painted, so it's in good shape. I wanted to try and get the car running before the auction, but I found that the carburetor was all rusty inside from water getting in through the un-capped fuel tank. It's going to need a new carb. I was surprised to find that the engine wasn't stuck after all these years, not even a little. I squirted some oil in the cylinders, then gave it a turn with the hand crank, and it spun right over. I installed the spark plugs, and it feels like it has good compression. I was told that it ran very well before it was taken off the road. The cylinder head has been cracked for a long time, from before it was parked. When I picked it up, the front brakes were stuck to the drums, so I had to remove the shoes to get it to roll. The clutch seems to operate, and the transmission clicks into all 4 gears with ease. Included with the car are 2 sets of rims. The four 21 inchers are original to the car and are in pretty good shape, with one broken spoke. There are five 19 inchers that are in rough condition. There are some tools that came with it, plus the hand crank handle that I forgot to put in the picture. The car is located near Dublin, PA, and can be inspected in person. I put a very low reserve on it, just in case I picked a bad week for the auction. The auction will go till the end, as I don't like to make deals to end them early. The car is sold as-is, and shipping is the winning bidder's responsibility. I can deliver the car, but for distances over 200 miles it will probably be cheaper to have someone else do it. Overseas bidders please contact me first so that I can let your bids go through. I can deliver the car to the docks in New Jersey for $200.00 I have many more pictures that I will be putting up on one of the picture hosting sites. I'll add a link to the listing when that's done. Should be late Monday night. The auction ends Sunday, August 14th, at 9:00 pm, Eastern Time. Good Luck!!! I added pictures of both to the new photos on Flickr.
