Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1970 Buick GS 455. This is a factory big block car, not a clone. It is an original Fire red, no vinyl top car. Paint code 75-75. Options include- body colored sport mirrors, GSX rear wing, Buick hood tach, 24 hour rallye clock, 15" chrome wheels with white letter tires, deluxe interior and bucket seats with console. The engine was rebuilt. It is not the matching numbers engine. Machine work was done by Don Cody. Assembled my previous owner. Engine has TRW pistons, a mild performance cam, blue Poston roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer 455 intake, MSD pro billet distributor with MSD 6A box, Kenne Bell headers, Poston Aluminum valve covers, and an 800 CFM performance Rochester Q-Jet. Engine runs very well and pulls very strong. Transmission is a Turbo 400. Trans shifts very hard and will chirp the tires into second and third. The rear axle is a 12 bolt Chevy with 4.11 gears. The car is extremely fast. Recent work to the car includes a brand new carb, new rear brakes, master cylinder, oil change with zinc additive, and fresh battery. Car runs cool and has outstanding oil pressure. The car still needs a good set of tires as the tires on there are a bit dry. The car is rusty. The body has the typical northeast rust that you would find on any car of this vintage. The paint is very shiny and can be used and enjoyed the way it is. The frame and floors are in remarkably good shape. Floors are solid and the frame is rot free. The trunk floor is a bit crusty and has had a couple of repairs done to it. If you desire to restore it (which I think it deserves), the car will need all the usual sheetmetal associated with a restoration. The interior is usable as is. The seats are ripped and the door panels need some help, but it can be used as is. If you were to restore it, it will need a full interior kit. Dash pad is in very nice shape. the 24 hour rallye clock has been converted to quartz and it works. The car can be driven as is. I wouldnt hesitate to bring it to a local cruise night/ car show. Please ask any questions PRIOR to bidding. I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. If you need any other pcitures or any detail shots, please ask. If your within driving distance, I would recommend coming to look at the car in person. Please, no overseas bidders. The car is currently off the road and has been in storage since 2003. The car is located on the south shore of Long Island approx 50 miles from NYC. Thanks!
