Vehicle Detail
Hi, most of you know me for selling optics; I've never sold a vehicle on ebay before but here goes.... For sale, a tastefully done 1978 Chevy, 4x4, "short-wide" bed, 350 V-8, SM465 4-speed manual transmission, NP205 case (a very stout running gear combo). This has been a northwest US truck it's whole life, I was told. Mileage on the odometer says 50,000 but it has cetainly turned over. Truck has been completely repainted inside and out in a metallic gray that exhibits just the slightest tinge of purple. The paint job is not show quality but is very thorough and the overall appearance is quite pleasing, IMO. Pictures do not do this truck justice, it is really stunning to see it in person. The bumpers are chrome and the bed has diamond plate accents. The rims are painted with a high-temp paint, and they hold like new 33x12.5R15 BFG AT tires (less than 3000 miles on them). The suspension has a claimed 6" lift (Rough Country) with Rancho shocks. Manual locking hubs. Shifts very tightly with a strong clutch. Drives straight and true, no wandering or wiggle, no driveline or steering wheel vibration at all. The 350 V-8 has some miles on it but sports a very finely tuned Quadrajet 4-BBL that start right up after pumping the gas pedal to set the choke. HEI iginition. The engine it runs very well for what it is and accelerates briskly when you step on the gas. No timing, pinging, idle, hesitation or stalling issues at all. The engine breathes out of a dual exhaust with abbreviated tailpipes for a clean look. It is not obnoxiously loud, but has a nice rumble to it. I would look to rebuild the engine in a year or two to match the freshness of the rest of the truck. It loses a little bit of oil but nothing serious. I added new hoses, belts, windshield washer pump and switch, and a new battery in the last year. It does not smoke while running. The engine compartment is very clean. Power steering and power brakes. Dual gas tanks with an in-dash switch that works. Upper and lower ball joints on both sides very recently replaced. Four wheel drive works flawlessly. Tachometer, fuel, speedo, temp and electrical gauges in the dash. The aftermarket steering wheel has had the ignition switch cylinder and links all replaced, but the horn is not connected. There is a momentary toggle switch in the dash next to abd left of the steering column that activates the horn. Lights, high beam/low beam, turn signals, brake lights, dash lights, reverse lights, all work perfectly. The interior has a new seat (full support foam), extended seatbelts, door liners, dash, carpet, visors and headliner. New door and window seals. New window tint (sliding rear window). The bed has some type of black abrasion and slip resistant paint applied with a roller. The billet grill came with the truck. The mirrors I believe are aftermarket, but they work OK. Issues? The driver and passenger seatbelts and housing were originally blue but painted over black, and some of the paint is wearing through, so it looks a bit silly (see pic). It doesn't bother me but it is something the new owner might look to replace, There is a tiny spot of rust on the right front fender, not sure if it formed under a paint bubble or from a rock chip (see pic). But overall the truck is practically devoid of any rust. The underside and frame and driveline have been heavily painted for protection. The upper left corner of the dash face has a small chip in it where the screw was turned too tight. Finally, the heater motor runs all the time, I just unplug it under the hood in the summer and re-connect it when it gets cold. The fan works great, as does the adjustment. There is a nice Panasonic Super Tuner II CD player that sounds pretty darn good. The truck has a tremendous amount of work done to it that you can own and drive with pride. This is a "turn-key" truck that needs nothing when you take possession of it. A deposit of $500 must be done within 48 hours of action close. PayPal is OK for that. The balance in full is due 7 days from auction close. Check or money order in US dollars only! Alternatively, the winning bidder can substitue cash with .999 pure rounds of silver at a rate of $40 per troy ounce or spot price on the same day of the close of auction, WHICHEVER IS LESS. Fractions get rounded up over 0.5 ounces. U.S. Buyers only. If you have questions about this please ask. The winning bidder must arrange shipping, I will work with you the best I can, including meeting a truck driver where and when convenient for him/her in Thompson Falls, MT. I will deliver anywhere within about 2 hours of Thompson Falls (Kalispell, Missoula, Sandpoint ID, Spokane WA). Or you may fly-in to Kalispell or Spokane airport (Southwest flies there) and drive it home. This truck is advertised for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction and cancel the high bid if it sells locally. Thanks, Scott@LibertyOptics.comOn Aug-05-11 at 11:53:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Spot price for silver today $38.22 so that is what you would get per troy ounce of .999 silver rounds in lieu of cash on this vehicle, if you choose that option.
