Vehicle Detail

Up for auction at no reserve is a 1929 Model A Ford Speedster. It started out as a 1930 Sedan and found its way to the track. When I bought it about 10 years ago all that was left of the sedan body was a chopped down firewall/gas tank area and windshield. The remains of the sedan body I still have and the data tag is still in place but everything is gone off of it. What is still intact are all the stickers of....Sponsors??? and the racing numbers, 11 I think. The drivetrain was intact and functional however the motor would not run cool enough to not boil over. The car was very crude looking and was fun to run around the farm with a few haybales. My idea was to turn the car into a speedster and I bought the body kit that is on it now. I never could fix the hot motor, tried different heads, water pumps and radiators with no luck. Then I purchased the current motor which was a fresh rebuild and has only been shop ran so its 0 time. In the last 10 years I have owned about 30 Model A fords and was always swapping parts on and off the speedster. It is all stock now but it has had two overdrives and 4 high speed rears and a set of drop axels go on and off of it. I put them on customer cars but never swapped out the rebuilt motor, just painted it red. The hood is longer and the steering column had to be moved to accomodate this, I see people mess this up all the time but this one was done right and the drag link was also correctly lengthened. The seats are very high quality and were covered in a way that the sheet metal wont tare through them like many do. All five tires and high quality metal stemmed tubes are brand new. The paint is very nice close or at a far...very shiny!!! The car is still not quite finished, the clutch and brake need to be lengthened and really is the last thing keeping this car from hitting the road. Some other odds and ends need to be tied up, brake cables, hoses and some wiring. Nothing that will cost big bucks all that stuff is done! I do have most everything you need, the brake cables, hoses, fan belt....was going to do the king pins and bushings but never got to it and didn't want to end up swapping that axel out if I did. I do have the title for the car, still reads 1930 sdn but nobody knows or will bother you about it. Ony reason I am selling is because I want to fund other projects and have to make room for two airplanes comming into the shop at the end of next month. As with anything other than a brand new car, you are buying this one as is where is. Do not bid if you are not going to pay! Selling at no reserve!! Highest bidder is the new owner! I can help with hauling if needed. Ask questions!!!! Or come take a look! Happy Bidding *Fire Extinguisher not included in sale...just a prop*On Jul-30-11 at 14:20:43 PDT, seller added the following information: There has been some concern about the lack of documentation on the motor rebuild. I bought the motor as a surplus from a rebuild shop slightly before I bought this car for another car it never ended up in. I got paperwork with the motor with the motor number on it but that was 10 years ago and have no idea where it got to. I did a aircraft type compression check on the motor and had the following compressions over 80: 77,78,78,77. This is what I would expect from a new motor and without being hot it's even more impressive. I will personaly gaurentee the motor for 30 days after purchase, this includes and IS limitted to the main bearings, valves, and compressions. It does not include things like you driving the car cross country and running it out of oil or water, blowing a head gasket, ect. Also if you want the gaurentee I'm going to require you to run break in mineral oil in it for the first 30 days and the head should be retourqued after 50-100 miles. If there is a failure, I will provide either another motor in good serviceable condition or repair the rebuilt one in the car. Either way I will require you to bring me this one back for inspection. I will not cover things like carb or electrical. I am being more than fair here and I don't want to see any funny stuff. I will not pay to have the motor rebuilt by another shop or pay for another rebuilt motor. I simply want to give you some security in your bid. Also I might add that the radiator is brand new never used and is the heavy duty high volume type. Cost $650. The chrome shell is new but already is showing signs of needing polished...cheap repro imports don't hold up but that seems to be all thats out there. Still looks very good, just don't want there to be any surprises! On Aug-06-11 at 20:52:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Look on the fron page of Hemmings this month, there is a speedster done very much like this one on the cover!
