Hello, and thank you for checking out this auction for our 1984 Beck Development 550 Spyder. These are two door convertibles, that are a reproductions of the famous Porsche 550 Spyders from the mid-50's. This Beck is titled as a 1984 VW Spyder, and it has a clean Massachusetts title. Fully sorted, turn key driver that we have known for a very long time. One of the original Beck Development cars that was built in Upland California, before Beck moved production to Brazil. The first Beck Cars built in Upland are known to have a better build quality. Finished in a dark gray, over a red interior, and "James Dean" type red stingers over the rear quarters, this Beck is the 20th car built at the Upland facility. Hand laid thick section fiberglass bodies, with a gel coat paint, mated with a 3 x .125 steel tube frame. Upper and lower trailing arm front suspension, and the rear suspension is a cross torsion bar, height adjustable with tube shocks set up. Brakes are discs up front, and drums in the rear. Powered by a VW 1600cc air cooled 4 cylinder engine, with a 4 speed VW manual transmission. This car weighs about 1300 lbs, and makes about 125hp. Top speed if you dare is a stated 130 mph! 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, and quarter mile comes at 13.6 seconds @ 92mph.
