Vehicle Detail

RELISTED AND RE-APPRAISED DUE TO NON-SERIOUS BUYER. This is a CLASSIC 1986 Nissan 300ZX Turbo car with 5-speed Borg Warner transmission. I am the third owner and have had the car since I bought it in El Paso in 1989 as a rust-free mint condition car. It has the digital dash with auto climate control, cruise and stereo controls on the steering wheel, electrically adjustable driver's seat with lumbar and side bolster support, rear defroster and even a G-meter! The interior is charcoal gray leather seats and black trim, but 5 years ago I had the seat centers and door trim panels spiced up with perforated red leather inserts. Inside the door entrances, I replaced the old vinyl step guards with custom stainless-steel protectors with the 300ZX logo on them (see in the pictures). The side and rear windows have all been given a medium tint to be in compliance with Virginia inspection laws. The roof includes two T-tops and includes the leatherette T-top storage bags to protect the tops when they are removed for open-air touring. The exterior was repainted 6 years ago, but I shifted the red color to the GM Bright Red Clearcoat color, same as used on late-90's Camaros and Firebirds; it never ceases to get rave compliments from passers-by! Along with the fresh paint, I had the side panels and trunk accented with the signature "Z" stripe in Aztec Gold. A year ago, I had the 16-inch Turbo wheels completely refinished with gray powdercoated cooling slots and a clearcoat protective finish; they look better than new! In the engine compartment, I had my local repair shop, Tidewater Z of Poquoson (whose owner is the President of the Tidewater Z Car Club and has exclusively maintained my car for the last 20 years!) go through the engine to replace all engine seals, so there are no oil or fluid leaks. We installed a new Japanese aluminum racing radiator, new distributor and fuel injectors, and went to a Manual Boost controller to bump the (original!) turbo's boost pressure from 7 lbs to 11 lbs of boost, making for quick but engine-safe acceleration. The turbo unit is the original turbo that came with the car and works perfectly; in fact, the car runs and idles so smoothly it feels like a new car. A brand-new timing belt was also installed a year ago. I even had the plenum cover and battery shield powder-coated in bright red and polished on the shiny surfaces, and the air filter box was given a chrome powder coat treatment, and we installed a shock tower strut bar to enhance chassis rigidity. Under the chassis, we replaced the worn but ultra-expensive electrically adjustable shocks with premium Tokico high-pressure nitrogen-charged shocks that give both excellent handling and a nice controlled ride, and all suspension bushings were replaced with premium polyurethane bushings. The exhaust system was enhanced last year with an MSA polished stainless steel 3" catback exhaust system for lower back pressure and an awesome engine sound that won't annoy the neighbors but sounds perfect for a sports car. The front disc brakes have new, bright-red painted calipers; this car stops on a dime! And the 5-spd manual Borg-Warner transmission (same as the Mustang 5.0 GT's tranny) was enhanced with a short-shifter kit for quicker shifts. The car is very fast, has very tight suspension and handling, and is rattle-free. Overall, this is one beautiful car that you can be proud to own. I put it in the local Nissan car show a few years ago and got a Third Place prize the first time out; it was also selected as "Miss December" in the Tidewater Z Car Club's annual calendar. It has never been in an accident and remains very clean, as it has been continuously garage-kept. It was built on the Nissan assembly line in Nov 1985 and hence is now officially a "Classic" car designation. In the interest of fairly and honestly presenting the car to potential buyers, I will tell you that the air conditioning compressor works perfectly and blows cold air, but due to some minor vacuum line leaks behind the dash, the air currently comes out of the defroster vents only. I have a box of replacement bellows needed to correct this but it will cost the next buyer approximately $400 to have the dash pulled to restore full function to the automatic air conditioning system. Also, when the short-throw shift kit was installed, a couple of the console cover panel's snap-in clips were damaged, causing the decorative cover plate at the base of the shifter to pop out when you hit a large bump; this will need either a new cover plate or install screw-in clips to anchor the plate down. Other than those two discrepancies, all electric windows, fog lamps, pop-up headlights, digital dash, etc work perfectly and you will be impressed with the great condition of this classic automobile. All 22 years-worth of maintenance records will be included with the car, as well as a selection of extra parts. It continues to increase in value now that it is a classic, but I must clear out my garage for the arrival of another sports car, and therefore have decided to sell this family jewel to someone who appreciates the value and the desirability of this classic Z31 Nissan sports car. I invite serious buyers to conduct a mechanical inspection, but you must schedule this with me first to ensure it does not interfere with my work schedule. Do not place a BUY IT NOW bid on the car unless/until you are prepared to pay for it within 7 day's of auction ending. Due to the age of the vehicle, no warranty is made, implicit or expressly, other than the car's driveable condition and current Virginia VDOT inspection complied with. Also, please do not attempt to negotiate a new price after committing to your offer for this car, as I know what it's worth and the direction that it's value is headed! Serious buyers only; I will bend over backwards to help my Buyer get into this dream car, but I have no patience for buyers who only want to waste my time or dabble in eBay auctions. I've already had to deal with one "buyer" who failed to fulfill payment requirements under Buy It Now. If you have less than 5 transactions on eBay, less than 95% score, or any record of non-payments on eBay auctions, don't even bother bidding on this car!
