Vehicle Detail

Re-listed with a $1,000 drop in starting bid. Volkswagen Dune Buggy built on a 1975 Beetle frame. Completed in fall 2009. At that time these were replaced with new: floor boards, tires, wheels, seats, gauges, gas tank, front bumper, rear bumper, oversize oil pan, auxiliary oil cooler and remote filter, full rear seat, seatbelts, battery, remote electrical cutoff, steering wheel, gas filler tube and cap, brake lines, push rod tubes, wipers, lights, drive lines with cv joints, race fan, racing fan shroud, electronic ignition, high performance coil, twin carburetors(40mm), alternator, high pressure oil pump, headers, exhaust, everything coated with POR 15 and repainted, all wiring, short throw shift lever, undercoated, tail lights and head lights, electronic fuel pump, fuel lines, running lights, horn, new front end bushings, rear bumper stops, and more. Since completion it has been driven 292 miles (as of July 9th, may increase I'm having fun driving it). I have over $13K invested in this not counting my labor. The body I had built by Bandit Buggies in S. California. I had them include the side pods for looks. The body alone cost over $4K and included nothing listed above. It is a beautiful bright yellow that gets waves when ever I drive it. The only two problems that can be noted are the 1. Bucket seats - the fabric doesn't do well in any sun. I've had three sets of seat covers and they all deteriorate. Next time I would go with a fiberglass seats. 2. The gas tank overfill tube is located lower than the top of the tank. When it is overfilled gas will slosh out the overfill. I plugged the tube with a golf tee and have had no problems since. The fan on the engine oil cooler keeps the oil extremely cool. The pressure is good. I worked on this project for 9 months and I know I am forgetting some of the things I replaced. It is still licensed as a 1975 Volkswagen making it smog exempt in California. There are no warranties or guarantees and all costs and shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the winning bidder. This is a no reserve auction and the high bidder will win this beautiful car. Bug Performance in Sacramento did all the wiring and checked work I completed. I also replaced the brake lines, bleeder valves, new master cylinder, synthetic brake fluid, replaced shift rod bushing and shift coupler, replaced sway bar bushings and clamps, installed quick shift kit, new pointless high performance distributor, new high output coil, oversize oil sump pan, new heavy duty 30mm oil pump, new alternator and stand, new finned chrome valve covers, new fuel sending unit, Diehard battery, replaced gear oil with synthetic gear oil, new drive shafts CV boots and CV joints, replaced accelerator cable, new sending units for brakes, oil pressure, and oil temperature. The only regular maintenance these old Beetles require is periodic valve adjustment(every 5K miles). The valves on this dune buggy were adjusted about 100 miles ago.
