Vehicle Detail
This 1974 International Scout ll is completely rust free and spent all of its life in Arizona and California. Finding an largely stock, unmodified rust free one in with 37,806 miles is very rare. This scout was manufactured at the Ft. Wayne assembly line and was built in February of 1974. The Scout was delivered to IHC's main offices in Columbus, Ohio, where IHC Corporate Officer G. "Jerry" Baecher took possession of the fully loaded Scout. I would say this is one of the nicest original Scouts you would find anywhere and in one of the rarest original two tone combinations available. I have lots of original documentation that accompanies the Scout, like the owner's service policy, owners manual, accessory manual, emission maintenance manual, towing booklet, original brochure and may more interesting books and historical information on Scouts. Dozens of reciepts for mechanical repairs totalling over $10,317.60. Here are some of the highlights of what has been done to it. -Rebuilt Torqueflite 727 Transmission -All fluids drained and replaced-New carburetor and accelerator pump -New brake master cylinder-New alternator -Replaced valley pan gasket and intake gasket and put 4 barrel carb and intake-New battery -Replaced single speed transfer case with dana 20 and driveshafts with new u-joints-New muffler -New A/C compressor (a/c blows cold) -New leaf springs bushings -New motor and transmission mounts-New front brake pads and rear shoes -New antenna-Rebuilt original radio -New radio speaker I have the original line setting ticket (equivalent to the build sheet) and it confirms standard and optional equipment including:-100" wheelbase Scout 4x4 body with Travel Top-345 cubic inch V-8-3 speed automatic transmission 727 TF-Eaton Air Conditoner-Dana 44 front axle w/ Lock-o-hubs-Spicer 44 rear axle w/ 3.31:1 ratio-HD front and rear springs-Front disc power disc brakes-700D Saginaw power steering-Dual exhaust-increased capacity 12 V electrical system-am/fm radio-Chrome wheel covers- 2-tone applique decor #3-Chrome front bumper-HD step rear bumper-tinted glass-Custom interior trim-Sliding rear 1/4 windows-Luggage rack-Full width folding rear seat-Storage box center console This time capsule has never been modified in the suspension department beyond the addition of front and rear anti roll bars and has never been lifted or lowered. Doors do not sag, hood fits perfectly, tailgate does not rattle and the back window opens and closes smoothly. All glass is original and in excellent condition. The engine compartment is toothbrush clean and the 345 ci V-8 starts easily and runs very smoothly and does not display any bad habits, such as smoking, oil comsumption, or overheating. Many of the original details, suchas factory labels are still intact in the engine bay. The exterior of this Scout is amazing with an extra clean body. The truck was apparently repainted once in the original colors and there are a few small blems but no dents, scrapes or bubbles to lose sleep over. The paint isvery smooth and glossy but there is a little peeling on the top but not much. The travel top looks like it has never been removed and the weatherstripping is in excellent condition, having been replaced where needed. A new set of Capitol radial A/T tires have been recently fitted to the original steel rims. The factory hub caps are in superb condition. One of the highlights of this vehicle is the interior which is immaculate. The interior was represented to me as original when I purchased it and I know the paint on the interior is also original. The previous owner installed a leather wrapped Scout sport steering wheel and the pristine uncut factory dash is in immaculate condition. The original radio works perfect, dash pad like new, the transmission works perfect and the 4 wheel drive does also. The original front bucket seats, rear seat, carpeting, door panels, and the irreplaceable cardboard headliner are ultra clean, free of any rips or stains. The rear bench folds forward if additional luggage space is needed. This scout has been pampered is whole life and with only 37,806 miles it shows. It rides smoothly and the steering is tight. It has highway gearing (3:31:1 axle ratio) so can been driven at 70mph or faster with comfort and handles great with the new sway bars. The a/c blows nice and cold is the cabin is pretty airtight and quiet going down the road. The dual exhaust give it a mellow rumble so you know it is sporting a V-8 under the hood. My mechanic who has restored many scouts said that this one was the best driving Scout he has ever driven. I have a 1/2 top and a rare custom made convertible half top and rollbar custom modified to fit with the half top that I will include to the winning bidder if the buy it now is used. Also included with buy it now will be many extra parts like 2 carburetors, several brochures, scout belt buckles, original color chart, several IH matchbooks, extra steering wheel, accessory light bulb kit, roadside emergency kit, Scout model (unbuilt), scout matchbox toy, and many books and other scout collectibles.
