Vehicle Detail
1986 PONTIAC TRANS AM. I bought this car on ebay in Florida just south of Tampa Bay. I have had it for eight years now and as much as I love this car its time to let it go. I needed a more practical car with being married and having a daughter and just bought a monte carlo. The transmission was rebuilt three years ago when the tranny was replaced he also replaced the torque converter which at times makes a bit of a clanking sound when putting it into drive. I complained about this but was assured that the tranny was fine and that sometimes you get a noisy torque converter. A new battery last year, bosch fuel pump, new front brake pads. I would recommend taking it somewhere to have the brakes bled properly. I had brake fluid leaking and stripped the threads on the rear driver caliper and replaced it and the line and can't quite seem to get the brakes bled good enough. So the brakes work but not as well as they should. I let the tags expire and can't take it myself or I would. I had the car looked over at 150,000 miles and my mechanic did find that the timing chain looked bad and that was replaced. The check engine light is on. I believe it brings up code 36 which says that it has either a bad mass air flow sensor, a bad burn off relay or bad wiring. I replaced both the mass air flow sensor and the burn off relay so apparently it has a bad wire some where. The car just runs a bit rich other wise the car runs and drives fine. This has been a summer vehicle only and has never been driver in the winter, ever. I had the hood, front bumper and mirrors painted when i bought the car because the clear coat was fading. As you can see some of the other parts have the clear coat fading now. This car still looks really really good from a short distance but as you can tell in the pictures some of the other parts could use some fresh paint as well. The tires are ok. They have maybe 25% tread left. The car will come with the stock radio. I am keeping my cd player. However the amp wires will remain so it will be all ready for a system if you have one. When I bought the car there where a couple of fairly deep scratches under the driver floor pan. At the time they were no big deal but didn't realize until this summer that they had rusted out bad and caused two holes. I cleaned them up the best I could and fiber glassed over them. One of the up stop plastic pieces on the drivers window is broken. I never replaced it because it was easier to create a tighter seal. You just have to remember to tap down on the button before you turn the car off. The car has a/c but it doesn't work probably just needs charged. I never bothered with it because it has t-topps so I never saw the point. I had always planned on keeping the car and I have always run premium gas. The power antenna and power hatch still work great. The head light motors still work great and I have 2 extra used ones that i picked up a long time ago for spares. The car has red neons. I had a remote start/car alarm/ remote lock installed. the remote start stop working. It was fun to show off with at first but I never used it. I would guess that its a simple 12 dollar sensor that needs changed if you would want to get this fixed. I also have two brand new seat covers identical to the ones currently on that will go with it. So yes this car is older and has its little flaws here and there but really is still a very nice car and very clean and solid. Other than needing to get those brakes bled this car is ready to drive. And yes you could drive it home just don't tail gate any one and you'll be fine. I hope that it goes to a good home.
