Due to the 450SL bulk and stout structure, it is just about the safest open cars imaginable. The Mercedes-Benz dealer has preformed the only recall of replacing the subframe, and owner has the shocks, and springs, and motor mounts replaced at same time. The automtic climate-control system was reconditioned, and does blow cold.
