This is a very rare BMW, (Only 200 of these cars with the six speed manual transmission were imported to the USA for the 1995 model year) This car is equipped with a 282 H.P. V-8, a six speed manual, and an M-Technic Sport Suspension. This model, the 540i "Sport" (6 speed) wasn't produced in 1996, it was then re-introduced in 1997 as the M-5! This car has a lot of miles, 280,000, the bulk of these miles (270,000) were put on it by the previous owner, a BMW fanatic, who drove to North Carolina in 1995 to buy this one as there were no "new" ones left to buy, he bought this vehicle with less than 5,000 miles on it. I have the original window sticker, the price on it, in 1995 dollars is $52,190.00 This owner drove the car until 2007 when he sold it to me and I have only driven it in the summer. While he owned it he had it serviced "religiously", the service was done by AutoWerks formerly of Gardiner and now of Freeport, ME. Whatever the car needed, it got. The full synthetic oil has been changed every 4-5,000 miles, and to this day, the car does not burn or leak a drop! The interior is in great shape it is black leather, trimmed with burled walnut, the dash appears to be stock, but hidden in the trunk is the heart of the car's incredible sound system, a 1,000 watt Orion amplifier. There are Infinity speakers installed throughout the cabin, with an Orion Sub-Woofer hidden behind the rear seat arm rest. There is a sunroof and an on-board computer that displays Time, Date, and Temp; as well as average MPG 1and 2, and Average Speed, this computer also warns the driver if something mechanical needs attention. There is a set of four brand new Nitto SSS Extreme ZR's (235/45ZR 17's) mounted on polished, and silver painted, Beyern 17", 5 spoke rims. Also included is a set of OEM BMW wheels with Nokian snow tires mounted on them.. There is a little surface rust, but the paint is still stunning! You have to drive the car to appreciate it, this car is a lot of fun to drive! I have replaced the water pump, wheel bearings, the power steering pump, and the front shocks/struts.
