Vehicle Detail
I just bought this car and had it moved from Kansas City to Philadelphia. It barely fits in my garage! I have to almost crawl over the car to move around it. It's too bad, it's straight and pretty clean for a neraly 30 year old car. It is 2 toned black with silver. It's looks real good as they say a "10 footer". Not a show car but is virtually rust free with a little starting on the ineer lip of the trunk lid and the doors but not bad. Body looks good and the trim is all there. Interior is cloth and the seats have no rips. They do have some small minor blemishes but hey it is 30 years old. The door panels are in decent shape with just a minor 1/4 inch crack at the switch bezel. The headliner is good. The dash has a reproduction pad cover that looks like the original dash. I would guess the original dash has cracks. The carpeting is in good shape as is the trunk carpet. It has a sunroof that works although if you spray the hose on it directly at a hard pressure, it will drip slightly. The windows work and the seats except the driver seat back and forth switch will have to be replaced. The person from whom I bought the car is supposed to send me that switch. If he doesn't I have seen them on ebay. The front brakes are new in June along with one of the calipers. All 4 tires are whitwalls and virtually brand new. The power mirrors work in most directions as do the power locks. You will need to get new lift struts for the trunk lid as it does not hold itself up. There are blemishes in the paint;mostly in the black. It still shines well and looks good and I have had people stop me in my driveway when I have had it out there. It looks good. The guy who sold it to me took it for a two hour highway cruise before I bought it and he said absolutely no shimmys or shakes of any kind at highway speeds. I have only neighborhood driven it but it seems real good. It is quiet and shifts okay. I did not notice any leaks or overheating. I would do a basic tune-up just because you don't know if it sat for long periods. Overall for the money it's a decent looking and driving antique and not a lot of them around. I believe you could drive it home within reason. I mean it might go 1500 miles but I have a 4 year old Toyota Sequoia that has quit on me so who can say. If you are in the philadelphia region I would say no problem. If you live nearby and would like to see it give me an email and we can work a time. Oh, the a/c will probably work with some more freon. The compressor comes on and cycles so it's probably just low. It has been converted to 134a. I also have the original owners manual and a couple sets of keys. One more thing to mention- The hidden headlights stay closed when the car is running. Maybe 10 minutes after it is turned off they will slowly open so a vacuum line or two will have to be found and replaced. Just to give one final detail. The 1/4 vinyl top is okay overall but has some small splits but nothing huge.
