This auction is for a 1978 International Harvester Scout with a hard top and soft top included with the Scout. This particular Scout has a very interesting and unique history. In February 1992 a complete frame off restoration of this Scout was completed by The Scout Connection in Fort Madison, Iowa. This frame off restoration returned the Scout to showroom condition. The frame off restoration included all new paint, doors, tops (hard and soft), body tub, seals, panels, seats, chrome, carpet, console, headliner, speakers, etc, etc This frame off restoration cost more than the original sale price of the Scout I also have every repair and maintenance receipt for this Scout from the day it was made thru today. The former owner really loved this Scout - but the hard winters in Detroit, MI where this Scout lived for most of its life did not do it any favors. The good news is the Scout has a clear title, runs great, has a very very strong engine, 4 WD works great, starts right up very easy, stops OK, drive train is excellent, clutch is good, front seats and rear seat are like new, frame is good, soft top is good, hard top is good, glass is good, lights are all good, etc The bad news is it need to have four new body mounts installed, it also needs to have new front and rear floor pans installed, all of the tires will need to be replaced, and the driver side door will need to be repaired or replaced - as the door struck a tree while it was open and truck was moving in reverse. It could be repaired - but I am including a replacement door with the sale of this Scout. While there is some rust on the Scout - it is much much less than the usual rust found on a Scout of this year. The Scout is currently registered and insured - but does not have a current inspection.
