Volkswagen Thing 1974 This 1974 Southern California Volkswagen Type 181 Thing has been completely restored. All paint and primer was striped down to the metal. Premièred with (PPG K36 Acrylic Urethane) and PPG Olive Draft paint products. 1600 cc engine has been rebuilt, has not been broken in. New carburetor, New Battery and voltage regulator All electrical was redone in the car; everything works on it Rear KYB shocks (new) Brakes pads and brake cylinders Transmission clutch and throw out bearing Rebuilt starter Front new tires New soft-top OEM Seats upholstery to match green and black outside colors/new rear seat frame springs Wood floors New exhaust system New front seat belts Underneath battery rust was repaired. Undercarriage and fender walls were treated with rubberized undercoating 3M materials. Original stock rims were sanded down to the metal and painted with intensive black two-stage PPG paint and clear coat.Car is currently register and have plates and tags until October 2011. ball joints were just replaced as well as steering and suspension adjustments. the thing is ready to cruise along.
