Vehicle Detail
If you're looking at this auction it's only for a handful of reasons. You might be a Datsun fan and already know what a fun car this is. You could be looking for a rear wheel drive manual car because you know how fun that is. You might just be looking for a cheap car, I'd prefer you buy something else. :) This car is rough, there are no doubts there, but it's been a pretty solid runner as my daily driver off and on for the past couple of years. I've put nearly 10000 miles on this car since I got and have smiled through every curve and downshift, every slide around the corner and even through two tickets. Even in it's rough shape I get all kinds of thumbs ups, cool car, and what is that thing anyway a bmw? A nova? Seems like I get a story about every time I fill up with gas. Down to the details for starters let's mention that I'm not a mechanic just a tinkerer. Sorry for the passenger side pic, realized I couldn't find a decent one of that side and tried to shoot another. Getting dark so I can get a better one tomorrow. Also please let me know if you want individual shots of anything else. The Good It's a blast to drive This car has an L20b motor with dual hitachi SU carbs. I haven't ran it a lot with these carbs yet as I just put them on a couple months ago. They still need dialed in. It's fun to drive A83 head with unknown cam and new head gasket. I like driving it Electronic distributor Really fun car 5 speed dog leg transmission from 200sx Bucket seats (that admittedly could use some help in the rail area) Fiberglass front flares Two sets of good tires AND wheels An extra intake and weber 32/36 if duals aren't your thing. All gauges work with the exception of the temp gauge which I bet DOES work but it's not hooked up. There is an aftermarket in it. Fuel, lights blinkers etc work. Gas tank recently removed, hot tanked and cleaned up. Looks great. Solid trunk floor I do have a front bumper but NO front brackets. I also have the original seats if you want them. (i wouldn't but hey) The bad The body is pretty rough. NO major rust holes but the back drivers quarter was hit at some point in it's life and some idiot "repaired" it. If it's going to be a daily or a track car or something for fun probably no worries but if you are looking for a good shell to fix this quarter will have to be replaced. Some previous owner put the rear flares on half with screws and half with pop rivets. I hate this man but what are you going to do. It was on my to do list that will never get done. The rear seat upholstery is good BUT all the threads are toast so it's all coming off. Headliner is old and crusty, cracked and ripped in places on the side but the ceiling is still good. The original gas gauge sender leaks around its old rubber seal. I was going to remove it all and just weld it shut as it's not necessary anymore but patched it for now. Smells. I had the hood fly up after I didn't get it latched after helping jump someone. Just my luck. The hood is tweaked as a result. Doesn't LOOK too horrible but it isn't great either. The body has been spray painted (for the love of all that is holy people don't do this) and looks like crap as a result. It wasn't my doing so don't give me the finger. Probably that same genius with the screws. I think originally the car was tan, was resprayed for real once in silver then dilbert sprayed it white. Feel free to send as many questions as you like. This isn't my first car auction so don't ask me stupid things like will I trade for your awesome golf clubs and a fifty dollar bill. Ebay sale is final so if you aren't comfortable buying it without coming to see it then don't bid. If you don't have the cash, don't bid. If you are going to buy it then ask me if I can hold onto it for three months while you move out of your mom's basement, don't bid. If you're an illegal immigrant, don't bid. If you don't have a $100 bucks for a nonfundable "down payment" don't bid. If you're thinking geez this guy sounds like some grouchy old man I'm not, I'm only 33, I just hate idiots. :) On Jul-09-11 at 07:16:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add one other thing motor wise. VERY randomly I'll get a sound to the front of the motor. After describing it several times to the datsun guys online and having a mechanic friend listen most are pretty convinced it's merely one of the timing chain guides. I had planned to pull everything off the front this summer to be sure but have never gotten it done. Sometimes I won't hear the sound for weeks and then I'll hear it when I pull in the driveway at home. I also have several extra gaskets, a headgasket and just about a complete motor gasket set as well. On Jul-10-11 at 12:51:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Added some more pictures. Even parked under a tree it's so bright with the white paint I can't get a good dash shot, it's cracked but never painted. The passenger floor pan is great and the drivers side looks bad but I pounded on it pretty good and can't poke through. I scraped quite a bit to show you it's state. Here is a rocker shot, the other side looks the same. Again i feel this is really a pretty solid car except for the shoddy quarter panel work. Keep requesting pics etc and I'll try to put up what you need. Thanks all. On Jul-10-11 at 13:00:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes that's a working dome light turned on by opening the door! The headliner looks real good up top but down the sides has been ripped here and there. Door panels look good. I've also found that a stereo adds nothing to resale so I'll be pulling that and the speakers etc to toss in my scout. On Jul-10-11 at 14:19:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Whoops, A87 head not 83, thanks for catching that Pete!!!
