Vehicle Detail

1978 HONDA XL 250sDual Purpose Motorcycle Up for sale is a nice vintage 1978 Honda XL 250s. For 33 years old this bike is in very nice shape and is becoming a popular collectable. Unlike previous years of the XL 250 which were considered outclassed by other competitors. The 250s was a revamped and more superior machine. With a more powerful and efficient engine along with an overall weight reduction, the Honda 250s is a wonderful bike for riders all skill levels. It's a delightful bike on the street as well as blast in the dirt. This is a fine XL 250s and is a few parts away from getting back to it's roots of being a true dual purpose motorcycle. It is a pleasure to ride the engine runs well and shifts with ease. The gas filter needs to be cleaned. There are some oxidation on the aluminum on the engine, typical motorcycle issue. The twin pipe exhaust is in nice shape and does not have any dents in it. The tank is in nice shape and appears to have been repainted. There is absolutely no dents or dings in the tank. The body peices are in good shape and have no cracks in them. Fenders are also in good shape and have no cracks either. The seat is the original seat with the bike and does have a few small tears but is in original shape. The shocks and springs are in nice shape. It has the original aluminum motocross inspired wheels that are in exceptional shape. The sprocket appears to be brand new as well as the chain. This bike has been sitting for some time and does not have an up to date title. I will give the new owner a signed bill of sale so they can title it in their name. THIS BIKE IS AN AUTHENTIC PIECE OF THE ERA AND IS DESTINED TO GO UP IN VALUE. IT IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE FOR THE AGE AND WITH A FEW PARTS IT WILL BE A STREET LEGAL XL 250S. IT IS A PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR A COLLECTOR OF VINTAGE BIKES. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY OWN THIS BIKE AT A VERY LOW RESERVE Here's some interesting information on XL 250sHonda's XL250 trail bike was at one time rather outclassed by its competitors as it was a great deal heavier and not nearly as potent. However, the XL250S is a much better machine with a lot less weight and an innovative new engine. The power unit of the 250 is an all-alloy single-overhead-camshaft single which features four valves, making its breathing easy and efficient.Power from the unit peaks at 20.2bhp at 85oorpm which gives the bike a top speed of almost 80mph, yet a fuel consumption which is decidedly frugal at 70mpg; on the road, of course. An interesting feature of the engine is its exhaust system which features twin pipes, claimed by the manufacturers to be superior to a larger-bore single unit for low-speed torque. Power is fed via a wet-multi-plate clutch and five-speed gearbox to the i8in rear wheel, which looks rather odd considering that the front is a massive 23m diameter. However, as has been found in motocross, larger front wheels make things a lot easier on really tough ground. The performance of the XL off the road is excellent and the bike is a lot more than just a trail/fun bike for it could well be a competitive club racer. Many trail bikes are hard to ride on tarmac purely because their extravagant, but which in reality is very necessary, for the bike thrives on revs Additional Information, Please Read Before Bidding Please only bid if you intend to buy.
