Vehicle Detail
1971 El Camino SS True SS, 402, turbo 400, 12 bolt. Rare bucket seats with consol. Brand new Crager SS wheels and BFG tires. This is the best looking El Camino you will ever come across. Complete 3 year old professional frame off restoration by North End Performance Cars in Anacortes, WA. The car was striped to bare metal, primed in blue epoxy, and painted with 14 coats of finish. The body is laser straight; all body reveals are parallel and equal. Chevy never built one like this. Engine, drive train Recent (2008) total rebuild, less than 10,000 miles ago. - the engine is not numbers matching, but it is from the correct series and identical to the original 1971 SS block. New Holly 650 carb, and aluminum Edelbrok manifold MSR coil, MSR E-curve distributor and wires. Edelbrock valve covers New radiator, and all new hoses New belts New mounts and bushings New universal joints New rear end with 308 gears. Taller gears available (411s ?). New complete exhaust system. Body Bare metal, frame off total professional restoration. 14 coats of finish. 4 coats of blue epoxy base, 5 coats of Marina Blue LP metallic, 5 coats of clear coat. Racing stripes, metallic pearl white under the clear. You can barely feel they are there. Undercoated to look like new top and bottom. New chrome and stainless steel trim as necessary. Cowl Induction hood, works like new. New door handles, lock cylinders and mirrors. Bed – in perfect condition- lined with black Line-X for lifetime durability and a quiet ride. The glass is perfect. All rubber parts are new or like new. Frame Blasted bare and powder coated black. New body bushings and bolts. Fuel System New from stem to stern. New fuel tank. New fuel lines and filter. New fuel pump. New Holly 650 carb. Suspension New traction bars front and rear. Edelbrock (Lakewood) no-hops. New front gas shocks and air adjustable rear shocks. New ball joints and tie rod ends. New rear A arms. Interior New head liner New door panels New seats - seats were total disassembled, frames were powder coated, new foam and covers. New carpet kit. New rubber on brake and gas pedal. Dashboard is like new, no cracks. The car needs a few things to be perfect: A fuel tank sending unit. The fuel gauge always reads full. Seat belts; I have OEM green ones in place now; never could decide whether to install the 5 point racing harnesses. There is a minor leak in the automatic transmission. A speedo gear kit to match the new rear end. The clock does not work. There is a really cool digital dash cluster available, but I stuck with the original. There is one paint scratch above the left rear wheel; it seems to be only in the clear coat. Not even a rock chip otherwise. The paint on this truck is unbelievable. The chrome trim on the doors, around the glass is not perfect. It should be replaced if you want to show the car. The glass on inside rear view mirror should be replaced. Now we're really getting picky. I have a lot of extra OEM parts; we could deal on after the sale: Original SS Rally wheels in fair to good condition. Original Radio. A nice Kenwood CD player is installed – this is a major upgrade if you plan to drive the car, which you should. Many others parts available.
