Vehicle Detail

This is a very nice 1984 Mercedes 380SE that has 106,000 original miles and is in good condition. It is in an extremely desirable color combination of beautiful ice blue exterior with a navy blue interior. This car has been stored every winter since new. The second owner of this car was a friend of ours and purchased it from an estate with 25,000 miles on it. We bought it from our friend 7 years ago with 45,000 miles. It has a beautiful body with the only rust limited to a couple of scratches and a little on the bumpers. Unlike many of the misleading ads on Ebay, I am going to go over every major component of the vehicle, good or bad. Excellent: The body and paint are like new. Incredible shine for a 27-year-old car. Front buckets and rear seat bottom are perfect. Engine runs perfectly, starts right up. I replaced all plugs and ignition wires about 2 years ago. In the last two years, the brake pads and all 4 rotors have been replaced. Transmission shifts perfectly. Webasto sunroof operates flawlessly. Carpets are excellent. Upgraded 15” Mercedes alloy wheels that were offered in ’85. (See photo. Photo of trunk shows spare with the original wheel) Power seats work perfectly. Good: Front tires are fairly new, ok in back. The rest of the interior is good (except see below). Original Mercedes First Aid kit is there. Chrome is a bit dull; pretty much no rust but the trim chrome is dull. All power windows work but the passenger front gets stuck occasionally. Factory radio has been replaced with a stereo/cd. I have the original. The front speakers have stopped working but it’s the connection, not the radio or speakers. Bad: Engine needs a water pump. The part itself is not too expensive but it’s pretty hard to get at. If you can work on cars, it should be a routine fix. Doesn’t hold an alignment very well, although the last time we had it NYS inspected (4/11), all the tie rods, idler arm, etc. passed. Actually, everything (brakes, lights, etc.) passed. Dash has cracks. Wood trim is pretty well shot. (See photo) Rear seat back has the leather split at the very top. (See photo) A/C works and blows cold, but needs a recharge every year after being in storage for the winter. A recharge generally lasts through the summer in the years we bother to get it recharged. The last time I moved the car it had low pressure in the brakes. Not sure of the reason. As noted above, the pads and rotors are fine. One tiny rust spot on rear deck and one near the grille (see photo). This was my daughter’s summer car. She bought it with her own money when she was 15 so she’s taken pretty good care of it. As I said, its been stored winters so no salt exposure whatsoever. Again, this would be a good car for someone who likes the beautiful Mercedes ride and is handy with cars. We get a lot of comments on how nice the car looks. FYI, the interior photos make the seats look lighter than they actually are. They are a navy blue. As I stated, the car runs fine; however, due to the water pump issue and low pressure in the brakes, the car will need to be towed/trailered to it's new home. I will be happy to assist with shipping; however, shipping arrangements and cost will be buyer's responsibility. Vehicle is located in Williamsville, NY, just outside Buffalo. If you'd care to inspect it, I will try to arrange a time but this is a no reserve auction and the car will be sold to the high bidder at the close of the auction. $500 Paypal deposit required within 24 hours of auction end. Cash or Paypal required for remainder.
