Vehicle Detail
Have your cake and eat it two with a strong Diesel Suburban that can run on Diesel or a completely renewable energy source, vegetable oil. For sale is a 1996 Diesel Suburban with 4WD that has a Vegetable Oil or WVO(Waste/Recycled Vegetable Oil) secondary fuel system also installed. It is a solid daily driver that I am currently still using to commute back and forth to work. Tires have about 75% tread. The car has normal wear and tear for its age and has a couple spots behind the rear wheels where it has surface rust and some rust on the rear bumpter, but no spots of rust through or signficant rust. A/C blows cool, but not cold and could use a recharge. I did it as a project through my company as a green initiative. It worked well, but our business does not really need a vehicle this big and we are switching mostly to smaller cars. It has never been damaged since I have had it, and I have not seen any evidence that it has ever been in an accident. The prior owner was a construction worker that commuted with it back and forth from PA to NJ and put a good amount of highway miles on it until Diesel prices start rising. I have been getting about 15mpg with the truck. Much better than the 11-12 that the gas version gets. Plus it has a Class 3 trailer hitch with electrical hookup and plenty of power. This vehicle will run on either Diesel or WVO or Vegetable Oil. I had a GreaseCar system installed with a computer control about 3 years ago that allows you to switch between Diesel and Vegetable Oil. It cost me approximately $5,500K installed by Smarter Fuel out of PA. It has a separate heated 15gallon vegetable oil tank in the rear and a separate fuel pump for the oil as well as pre-engine filter. (two new filters are included). Smarter Fuel can also supply you with pre-treated and filtered WVO that also has been charged road tax (yes that's right any fuel you burn in a car even vegetable oil gets charged road tax). Just don't stand behind it when it is running on WVO as it smells like french fries and give you the munchies. Along with the Suburban I will throw in a 200 POD of WVO from Smarter Fuel that is on my property that has about 150 Gallons of usable WVO (about $450 of fuel) if you want to take it away. My reserve is less than I have just into the WVO system. Great vehicle either for someone who needs the power and space, and wants the ability to have it all without harming the environment. On Jun-27-11 at 06:50:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Realize that this is a used truck and not perfect. It is still a strong driver and a workhorse, and has a nice vegetible oil system. I would also not hesitate to drive it anyplace and it has been 100% reliable while we have owned it, but it is still a 15 year old truck. Since it is a fleet vehicle, it has been maintained proactively while we have owned it. While no signficant scratches or dings or any damage, it does have normal wear and tear. After detailing there is a small silver dollar size patch on the hood where paint is cracking and some light gray primer showing that I just noticed. The outside of the driver and passenger leather seats show wear as you can tell by the photos, the hood latch lever is missing but it is simple to pull the cable to pop the hood.
