Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1989 Porsche 944 N/A (non-turbo) for sale with only 79k original miles! This car is ready to drive with several tasteful upgrades and no trackday use. This was a one-year-only model packing the 2.7 litre 8v motor. From the factory brochure: "In seeking better pulling power from low rpm, Porsche engineers specified a displacement increase, from 2.5 to 2.7 liters. But they didn't stop there. They also: raised the compression ratio to 10.9:1; enlarged the intake valves; gave the engine a new camshaft with modified timing;and revised the digital motor electronics (DME) settings. These optimization efforts paid off in an impressive increase in torque, particularly at low rpms." In addition, this car has a long-tube header (not the factory shorty header) with a very subtle performance exhaust, a quick-response billet throttle cam, Centerforce clutch, Weltmeister swaybars (not sure what size, but they are big heavy bars), a Turbo rear valance, European rear bumper, and 16" Cup wheels. I also have pretty much all the service records for the last 20 years in a big thick folder. The car was still dirty from storage when the pictures were taken, so it should clean up very nicely with a fresh detail. The interior is typical for a 20 year old 944 with low miles, showing age but not much wear. The dash has the typical cracks, the shift knob is worn, and there is a small (1" at most) tear in the passenger seat stitching. Driver's seat shows very little bolster wear. The clock is unreadable and the fuel gauge is iffy. Seats are power comfort seats and the A/C blows ICE COLD! The stereo is an aftermarket Alpine CD player that plays CDs fine but does not pick up AM/FM stations well. Speakers are aftermarket and there is an aftermarket amp prewired in with leads for a subwoofer to be added, though I've never bothered to use one. I prefer hearing the exhaust note in a car like this, personally. The car starts right up and idles smoothly. It pulls strongly throughout the rev range and there is no schmutz on the dipstick or in the oil cap. When the car sits, the engine seeps a very small amount of oil onto the exhaust somewhere, which then has to burn off giving off an odor for a minute or two. With those heavy bars the car corners very flat, with virtually no roll. Brakes are good, tires show good tread, I would personally be unafraid to take this car on a long trip. Fresh oil change & A/C recharge. Timing belt service was done just a few years ago, which was roughly 9000 miles ago. The paint is good with no rust bubbles, but it is 20 years old and shows the usual chips and marks. There is no body damage on this car, no dents or oddly hung panels suggestive of old crash repairs. Overall this is a great choice for somebody that wants a 944 to drive and enjoy, period. Upon creating the listing the Autocheck gave the car a lowered score for "lien reported" in 2004, which is odd because that isn't necessarily something bad. Any loan on the car is a lien, carfax used to describe all car loans that way. Anyway please note that there is ZERO accident history in there, no signs of mileage rollback, and no title-washing to hide things like flood damage, etc. Good luck to all bidders, this car is listed with NO RESERVE! Top bidder gets it! Cash, Certified Funds, or Paypal only. Do not bother me with lowball offers to end the auction, nor do I want to trade for any items. Scams offering fake checks and asking me to wire money will be reported. Questions about the car are welcomed, and a pre-purchase inspection before auction close is recommended & welcomed just do not win the auction and expect that to mean "pending inspection whenever I get around to scheduling it". Full price must be paid within 10 days of auction close, period. Thanks to all for your interest, feel free to ask questions, and bid to win! :-) On Jun-29-11 at 14:38:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Several people have requested pictures of the interior, so I will take some in the next day or two. Hopefully I can post them to the auction at that point for all to see, but if not I'll email them to everyone who asked. Thanks to all for your interest in the car! -Matt aka gogglespaisano911 On Jun-30-11 at 08:55:51 PDT, seller added the following information: The interior pictures are now up, as well as a picture of the build date sticker by the fusebox as requested. I'll also also note the original Porsche stickers are present on the front fenders in the seams between the fender & hood. In addition, the previous owner recently found the ORIGINAL window sticker for the car. Not the reproduction you can send off for, but the ORIGINAL sticker that was in the car when it was new!
