Vehicle Detail

I started restoring this bus quite some time ago but ran out of money and I've been sitting on it ever since. I have receipts for all the work done. I've decided now that the bus needs to have a good home. The body on this bus has been completely restored by VW Restorations in Manassas, VA. It has a newly rebuilt and modified 1800cc engine that has never been run. Modifications include Dual Dellorto Carbs, cam, headers, oil reservoir, and oil filter. Has a two tone paint scheme consisting of "71 Super beetle yellow and corvette white. Trans worked fine when we started restoring 18 years ago but can't be sure of its condition. The front doors, rear hatch, and engine lid have been restored and primed, but the two side doors are in various states of restoration. I have no seats, bumpers, or the removable bar/frame piece that encloses the engine. It has a few minor scuffs, a small ding, and a little very minor surface rust developing on the interior in areas that are generally covered by the lining and mats. Some brake fluid spilled on the drivers side floor board and caused the paint and (in a couple of spots) the primer to lift up. no other mechanical work has been done. My intention was to replace every nut and bolt or part so assume that is what will need to be done. I have all the windows but one windshield cracked so it will need to be replaced. I have "new" rubber for the windows but it's been sitting around for 18 years so I'm not positive that it can be used, I have most of the lights and covers and other parts like mirrors, rag top frame, and such. The bottom line is: this bus is about half way completed. If you have the time or money this can quickly be turned into the bus of your dreams! Please let me know if you have any questions. On Jun-22-11 at 17:34:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to clarify and add a few comments: I started restoring this bus quite some time ago but ran out of money and I've been sitting on it ever since. I have receipts for all the work done. I've decided now that the bus needs to have a good home. The body on this bus has been completely restored by VW Restorations in Manassas, VA and is very smooth and straight. It was first sand blasted down to bare metal. All the rusted areas were cut out and new metal was welded in its place. Copious amounts of substance they use to smooth out the pitting from the sand blasting was applied. The rain channels were completely reformed. the floor of the cabin was completely replaces and they install a 4" steel pipe to increase the heating air flow. It has a newly rebuilt and modified 1600cc(sorry I originally said 1800) engine that has never been run, never had oil in it. Modifications include Dual Dellorto Carbs, C-25 cam, headers, oil reservoir, and oil filter. It has a two tone paint scheme consisting of "73 Super beetle yellow and corvette white(I have all the paint numbers). The bus is absolutely beautiful! The trans worked fine when we started restoring 18 years ago but can't be sure of its condition. The front doors, rear hatch, and engine lid have been restored and primed, but the two side doors are in various states of restoration. One of the side doors still needs metal welded on from the bottom up about 1 foot. I have no seats, bumpers, or the removable bar/frame piece that encloses the engine. It has a few minor scuffs, a small ding, and a little very minor surface rust developing on the interior in areas that are generally covered by the lining and mats. Some brake fluid spilled on the drivers side floor board and sat there for a while causing the paint and (in a couple of spots) the primer to lift up. No other mechanical work has been done. My intention was to replace every nut and bolt or part so assume that is what will need to be done. I have all the windows but one windshield cracked so it will need to be replaced. I have "new" rubber for the windows but it's been sitting around for 18 years so I'm not positive that it can be used, I have most of the lights and covers and other parts like mirrors, rag top frame, the VW emblem from the front ( but that will need to be re-chromed) and such. The bottom line is: this bus is about half way completed. If you have the time or money this can quickly be turned into the bus of your dreams! Or otherwise a great investment( we all know how much these buses can go for at an auction like Barrett- Jackson). Please let me know if you have any questions.
