Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a very cool and lowered 1966 VW fastback that I am selling for a friend of mine who is giving it up for an original owner 67 Type 3 that he came across. He has had this as his daily driver for the past 4 years, although it was garaged during the winters and not driven in the rain since it has collector insurance on it. While it isn't a show car, it has been built and maintained to be a street driven car with a great running engine with dual carburators, electronic ignition, header exhaust and new fuel lines in the engine compartment. The body of the car is pretty solid for it age and was originally from Washington state before being driven over to the east coast and ending up on Long Island. It was done in flat black primer years ago that has now started to fade and the hood was replaced at some point with a nice and clean unit. The rear decklid was cleaned up with the removal and shaving of the license plate light which has been incorporated in the license plate frame. The rear also has the optional pop out rear side windows and european tail light lenses. It rolls on a set of rare 1973 sport bug edition rims in the back which are 5.5 inches wide and the front has matching skinny 4.5 inch wide late model sport rims. The rear tires are 185's and the fronts are 165's and are in good condition. It also has four KYB gas shocks on each corner. The interior is pretty spartan as shown in the pictures but does contain a push button starter, Porsche green face speedometer and an EMPI close ratio shifter. All the lights are working as they should and the main flasher relay has been upgraded for better functionality. These type 3's are becoming increasingly harder to find and especially the desireable early body style like this. Usually it is just the squarebacks that come up for sale, but rarely do you see an early fasty like this! Overall, I would say that this car is a solid and reliable daily driver but as with any car this age, does have some bumps and bruises like a crack in the windshield and an intermittant starter. It starts everytime...but may need a few pushes of the button, however another starter will be included with the car. For safety, it has been upgraded to a dual master cylinder and the heat works very nicely(which is rare for a vintage VW!). As with all vintage cars, it is sold as is although I am sure the new owner will be very happy. This car is available for inspection and my friend would be happy to take you for a ride. We welcome and encourage any questions or inspection in person prior to bidding and a $200 paypal deposit is required immediately at the end of auction, so please be prepared to send this. The balance is due within 7 days of the end of auction which is also when the car is needed to be picked up. If you need it shipped, please use my zip code of 11776 when you are getting your quotes. I will be happy to make myself available for the shipper to pick it up.
