Vehicle Detail

With only two registered owners since new and 56,000 actual miles, this Willy's has been exceptionally well maintained since new and only required a sympathetic refurbishing to bring to its current condition. The most recent VA owner owned this vehicle since 1963 (1963 VA plate is included). It still retains the original, heavy duty, ‘Super Hurricane’ 6 Cylinder flathead engine coupled to its original, tight shifting 3 speed manual transmission. The Super Hurricane was an upgrade over the base 134ci ‘Go Devil’ 4 and the standard ‘Hurricane’ 6 cylinder. The ‘Super Hurricane’ was advertised as the most capable engine available offering a stronger, heavier block as well as internal components; the crankshaft alone on this engine is forged steel and weighs 77lbs. Equiped from the factory with heater, factory radio (inoperable) and rear seat, this Willys is completely original with only one repaint approximately 10 years ago – this vehicle has a lovely shine and presents extraordinarily well. Just back from a $4,500 mechanical refurbishing from a local restoration house that included a complete brake service including new shoes, new drums and new brake lines, new front bearings, new rebuilt carburetor, a complete and major tune-up (including plugs, points, distributor cap, rotor, timing adjusted, new vacuum hoses, etc.), all fluids were changed (transmission, transfer case and axles), radiator flushed, new ignition and wiring, new stop light switch, tires balanced, new rear wheel cylinders, rear shackles were removed, sand blasted/painted and rewelded, new front U-joint, new metal fuel line with filter near gas tank, front hubs were disassembled, cleaned, repacked and reassembled, steering box adjusted, etc.. The exhaust is recent as is the front rubber floor mat. This Willy's also had a professional 12 volt conversion with the proper ballast resister as well. Even items typically overlooked such as the emergency brake works properly, as does the vacuum operated windshield wipers with new vacuum motor as well as new arms/blades (extra set of arms with blades also included) and the original, dual-trumpet horn sounds like nothing else on the road today. A new 5 gal steel gas can sits in the original holder on the Driver’s side, the original is also included. The engine is whisper quiet, the transmission shifts properly, the ride is firm, it tracks arrow straight down the road and it stops on a dime. A small notebook in the glovebox details odometer readings, fuel fill-ups, parts and all work done from the 1970's to the late 1990's; in the Summer of 1977 for example the truck had 47,406 miles, in 1980, the odometer read, 49,429 miles, in 1986, 54,311, the last entry was in June 1999 where the truck showed 56,025 miles (changed oil, fan belt, hoses and flushed radiator) - it has only been driven 600 miles since. Strong, capable and ready for the beach, family outings, the local cruise, or a visit to your local home improvement store, these vehicles are not afraid of hard work either. Where ever you go, you can be assured of many thumbs-up along the way as it seems to attract quite a bit of attention. A wonderful opportunity to own a very correct, excellent running/driving, vintage Willy’s 4 Wheel Drive Station Wagon. Please feel free to ask any questions or request a specific picture of any angle or component. Thank you for looking and good luck! Cheers.
