1964 FORD GALAXIE XL 500++BIG BLOCK 428 RUNS, DRIVES, STOPS LIKE IT SHOULD and THINGS WORK POWER STEERING++POWER BRAKES++AIR CONDITIONING VIN 4D68X159460 MILEAGE TITLE: Clear Missouri title in hand. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? No rust issues that I can find, this is not a rust bucket. IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find. WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell. This car belongs to a friend that I'm just helping sell. PICTURES: The pictures make this car look like a perfect show car. It would be nice to buy a show car for a drive and enjoy car price. Please read my details and you will not be suprised. PAINT: The paint is drive and enjoy quality! It looks very nice, no rust bubbles, no dents, no runs,it has a very bright shine, the preperation for a black paint job was not as good as we do or it should be. Just to look at the car it looks great, but when you inspect the car to buy you will see some minor waves down the sides, some dust specs in the paint and a little orange peel. This is a good car it just doesn't have a $15,000 black paint job. CHROME: The bumpers are bright, but have some pits and little scuffs. The stainless steel is good, but not show car perfect. The side stainless is very showable. INTEROR: Not bad looking interior! No smoke smell, the bottoms of the front seat have cracks, the headliner good, door panels good with minor waves, the dash looks real good. UNSERSIDE: No rust problems, its not painted and detailed for shows, but is very solid. GLASS: The side windows roll up and down good and look very nice, the back window good, the windshield has a wiper mark. SOUND SYSTEM: The radio works. AIR CONDITIONING: The inside parts are all in place, the compressor looks new, the condensor in front of the radiator is not on the car. When the large aluminum radiator was put on a new condensor was never installed. ENGINE: Strange mix for the engine, the side embelems say 390, the heads have 428 codes (C8AE-H), the intake is a 2 barrell, I did not pull the starter and get the block codes, but the past owner said it was a 428. I would consider it to be a 390 just to be on the safe side. The engine runs great, no blue smoke, no rattles and it has decent power. EXHAUST SYSTEM: Good used condition, the mufflers are Flow Masters, the the tail pipes and tips are new. TRANSMISSION: Nice shifting C6 automatic, this is the heavy duty one that is a 3 speed automatic, it will leave a few drops on the flow when it parked. REAR-END: 9 inch heavy duty with no growls or whines. BRAKES: Drum brakes that are power assisted and they stop good. STEERING: The car drives very good, it is power steering. WHEELS AND TIRES : The tires are in good used condition, the wheels are OLD SCHOOL Crager SS. LIGHTS and wiring: They work and the wiring is good! The generator has been replaced with a 12 volt 1 wire alternator. HORN WORKS! wipers work! SPEEDOMETER WORKS! GAS GAUGE WORKS! TEMP AND OIL WORK and the volts are not hooked up. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? I think they open and close good! DEFECTS AND PROBLEMS: These are just what I remember off the top of my head! 1. The paint is nice, but is not show car, just drive and enjoy. 2. The air conditioning needs a condensor 3. Weeps a few drops of oil when parked. 4. Probally something else I missed. TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard! The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information. CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 64 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 38. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 41 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! TRANSPORT: EBAY MOTORS gives 3 instant transport quotes if you click on the link on my listing. US TRANSPORT: “No problem”, I can recommend a very large company, McNutt Auto Transport Service 800-755-2324. “Open carrier only”. ”They are located in Missouri”. US OR EXPORT “the best”: Classic Car Transport, LLC: This is a very good company that will handle any type of transport in the US or overseas with the white glove treatment. They are located in Kansas City. Call Bill at 913-749-0948 Email bill@classiccartransport.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire transfer. And its safe for both of us. Option 4: Pay Pal is good, but it cost a lot. I will only take the deposit through PayPal. WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $11,750 and I am asking $12,750 on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down. WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car. about > scams/ Recognizing scams/ You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules: IF A DEAL SOUND TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBLABLY IS A SCAM! FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later. NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.) DON’T BELIEVE: Stories like divorcees of departing servicemen needing to sell quickly at a low price are generally fraudulent. Sellers only want to deal by email and will not talk to you “they usually can’t speck English”. Inability or refusal to meet face-to-face before consummating a transaction. IS THERE A WARRANTY? No! Come inspect, judge and drive the vehicle all you want to because I do not offer a warranty on classic vehicles. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type, they are the way I see the vehicle. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected this vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to purchase based upon that judgment solely. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith.
