Vehicle Detail
Here is a classic 1978 Chevrolet - this truck is in good original condition, and as you can see in the photos below, it looks great! Originally from California, this truck came to Colorado in 1997. This truck is not all rusty like the ones back east, and with the GM Goodwrench replacement motor, it has a long life ahead of it. I'm selling this truck with no reserve - high bidder at the end of the auction owns it! The body of this truck is amazing. As mentioned above, it is not rusty. It also wears its original paint which is smooth and shiny, with the exception of the top of the drivers front fender where there is a bit of cracking (see close-up photo below). The truck has never been in an accident and is all original metal, no patched-together floors, rockers, etc. The only rust I see on the entire truck (aside from very light surface rust where rocks have chipped the paint) is a tiny spot of bubbling paint on the driver's side cab corner. That's it! Even the little 3-bolt cover plate inside the front wheelwells is solid and intact with nothing but light surface rust! The entire truck is solid original GM metal. No hidden or questionable repairs underneath shiny new paint! There are some chips, scratches, and dings as you'd expect on a gently-used 33-year-old pickup. At one time the corner of the rear bumper was pushed into the bed, I've shown the damage in the photos below. The doors, hood, and tailgate open and close very nicely. Overall this is a clean, original, great-looking truck that turns heads wherever I drive it. The interior is in good original condition as well. The seat has a few split seams and has a nicely-installed quality seatcover. The foam and springs are in good condition - it is not sagged-out or uncomfortable. Carpet has a bit of fading and looks good overall. The dash has a few small cracks, yet is nicer than most. The headliner is not ripped or torn, but has sagged and should be glued back up. An AM/FM/cassette radio plays music, although you'll probably want to replace it if you listen to the radio a lot. All gauges work except the factory oil pressure gauge - it reads full pressure all the time, so an aftermarket gauge was added inside the factory panel. The speedometer works properly, but reads a bit high. All glass is in good condition, including the windshield - no chips or cracks. The door windows roll up and down easily. The truck has a tilt steering column which is tight, not sloppy like some I've seen. This interior is a very comfortable place to spend your time, and is a good representation of how the truck has been cared for over the years. The engine is a GM Goodwrench 350ci V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor. I have the receipt from when it was purchased from Billings Chevrolet in San Jose, California. It was installed in 1992, when the truck had 83k miles, so the engine now has 64k miles. It starts easily and runs perfectly. As you can see in the photos below, it has all of its original equipment in place (no aftermarket air cleaners, headers, etc). It does not burn a drop of oil and the engine oil stays clean. The transmission is a TH350 automatic that shifts perfectly. The truck also has an Diehard battery. This truck was originally equipped with air-conditioning. It is currently missing the compressor, but the rest of the system appears to be intact. The truck is also equipped with a Uni-Hoist brand scissor lift for the bed. The truck was actually purchased new by Uni-Hoist to use as a demo at various shows around California. The dump bed works very well and has rarely been used - mostly for light duty work like hauling mulch, etc. As you can see in the photos below, the bed floor and tailgate are in very nice condition! Everything important for legal and safe driving is working properly - all of the headlights, dash lights, taillights, turn signals, horn, etc work as they should! Even the small stuff works correctly... license plate lights, dome light, that sort of thing. Original smog equipment is intact, and while we don't have emissions inspections here in Colorado Springs any longer, I will include the last few years of inspection reports that show the truck passes with flying colors. The e-brake works well. The truck has a receiver hitch under the rear bumper, and the factory jack and tire tools are under the hood. A full-size spare tire is mounted under the bed. This is a GREAT truck to drive. I have been driving it every day, everywhere I go, and it has never let me down. The power steering is nice and crisp, and is easy to turn. The power disc brakes are powerful and stop the truck easily. The exhaust is very quiet. The interior is very comfortable, and the truck doesn't rattle or squeak when you drive over bumps. Overall just a good solid ol' Chev! Included with the truck are the original owner's manual, various maintenance and repair receipts (including the receipt for the GM replacement engine), a black vinyl tonneau cover for the bed, and a clean Colorado title. If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. They will be answered promptly and honestly. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person. Different things are important to different people, and while I have tried to describe all important aspects of the vehicle, it's impossible to cover every little detail. I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason. If you're serious about purchasing, please get in touch with me. Terms of Sale Buyer will be responsible for either having the vehicle shipped, or picking it up in person. I will sell to US buyers only! I expect a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of auction. Payment in full is due within 5 days of the end of auction, no exceptions. I will accept cash or cashier's check for balance of payment. If picking up the vehicle in person within the 5 days, I will require the balance due in cash at that time. Please don't bid if you can't or won't pay! I know this doesn't need to be explained to most of you, but with all the new users something has to be said. Ebay is not a game, it costs money to list things here, please don't waste my time and money. Thank you!
