Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 re-creation. I am reluctantly offering my 1967 Chevelle for sale . It is NOT your average re-creation Chevelle SS 396 car. This car started out as a real 138 SS396 convertible but unfortunately was wrecked . The owner liked coupes better so he found a 44000 mile rust free 6 popper that he purchased from a little ol Lady ! REALLY! Then he spent the next 10 years building his dream only to have to sell it. The person who got it then did the rest of the re-build-he completly re-built the engine using all new parts and installed a comp cams 550 lift hydraulic cam with long slot rockers and an aluminum intake and new Holly carb. He had the Muncie 4 speed re-built by Cincinnatti's transmission guru "Mr 4 Speed" and installed new zoom clutch and pressure plate-new Hurst shifter with an adapter for using the stock shift lever-had the 12 bolt rear gear ratio changed to a cruise friendly 3.42 and re-built the posi- trac with new bearings and new Mosier axels.. The interior is new-has the SS dash with the oil and temp gauges and they all work. Has new wheels and tires-air shocks-comes with power steering-new drum manual brakes. It has an aftermarket Alpine CD player radio. All steering componants re-built.This car wins at every show I have taken it too including "Best GM". It drives like new with no rattles. The paint is still beautiful and shows well with only a few minor flaws from being driven 10000 miles-but powertrain has less then 2000 since re-build !! PLEASE HAVE A PROFESSIONAL APPRAISER COME LOOK AT THE CAR IF YOU CAN'T DO IT YOURSELF! No dissapointments here. The engine is a 1967 396 cu. in. 350 H.P. that was rebuilt with a bigger cam- intake - carb and headers so it should be somewhere between 375 and 400 H.P. The interior is all new-dash chrome-arm rest chrome -headliner-seat covers carpet and it has seat belts. The clock in the console does not work but included is a brand new one. The wipers work but the switch is weak-have to wiggle it a little to work and a new switch is included also. I have not felt well enough to change them out but it is an easy task.The SS dash has the oil and temp gauges and everything works-even the blinker tachometer works. All lights and horn works-emergency brakes work. Everything works except clock and I might have it (the new one installed) by the end of the auction. This car drives like a new one-needs nothing else. You can't find much to pick here-this car is done right. I have recently added a new over-flo can-new glove box bezel and horn re-lay-jack and spare-chrome stainless half-moon headlight covers-had it serviced with Valvoline 20W50 racing oil. I have driven it to car shows up to 160 miles one way and got 15 MPG by driving it easy. It has not used any oil in the 600 or so miles I have put on it this year .
