Vehicle Detail
1977 HONDA XL 175 3,287 ORIGINAL MILES Up for bid is a low miles classic 1977 Honda XL175 with 3,287 actual miles. This is a beautiful example of a 34 year old vintage Honda motorcycle. This beautiful bike is finished with the all original unrestored 34 year old Black with Tahitian Red and white striping paint job. Considering the age this bike is in exceptional condition, which is expected for a bike that has been ridden on average 95 miles a year. The beauty of this bike is the capabilities to ride to a destination play in the dirt and ride home, NO Truck, NO Trailer just a dual purpose motorcycle. Unlike most bikes of the era, this Honda doesn't show signs of extensive abuse. A perfect candidate for a collector of classic 1970s motorcycles or somebody looking for a cheap run around dual purpose motorcycle. What makes this bike special is it's originality. The paint is all original and still has a beautiful shine to it. The orignial plastic Tahitian red fenders also show little signs of fatigue and fading, something that is usual with red plastic. All the chrome pieces show no signs of pitting or rust, they shine with a mirror like finish. For a 34 year old tank the black and red paint shine very nicely The Honda emblems are also in very nice condition. The only flaw is a small dent on the right side of the tank and a few very small scratches something that can be fixed rather easily. Other than that it is very staight and still has the original warning sticker by the gas cap. Inside the tank it is flawless with absolutley no rust or deterioration. The side covers are finished with the original black paint and red and white XL 175 stickers that are still in very good condition. The only flaw would be the left side cover is cracked, a typical problem with motorcycles. This bike is more than mechanically sound. It runs with no ticks or odd sounds, just the smooth "hum" of the 175cc Honda motor. A typical problem with old XL 175s is their kick starters break this bike has no broken kick starter and shows no signs of fatigue. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly and gets up to speed rather quickly. Cosmetically the engine is in very nice condition with no rust or pitting, the only flaw would be the typical oxidation on some of the alluminum parts. The wheels and tires are in VERY good condition the tires still have lots of tread on them and the wheels look like they have never been dirty both the chrome and alluminum shine very nicely. The lights and gauges are in nice condition as well. There is a small crack at the top of the odometer gauge. Everything works and lights up fine just needs a little more juice from the battery. This true California classic is an overall exceptional bike that comes with a clean California title as well as unabused clean Blue 1970s California motorcycle plate with up to date tags. That is something you dont see everyday. Don't miss out on the oppurtunity to own this bike at a low reserve price. THIS BIKE IS AN AUTHENTIC PIECE OF THE ERA AND IS DESTINED TO GO UP IN VALUE. IT IS A PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR A COLLECTOR OF ORIGINAL VINTAGE BIKES. HONDA XL 175 HISTORY The Honda XL175 was a motorcycle produced by Honda. The XL175 first entered the market in 1973 as a lightweight dual-sport motorcycle, and the model continued in production through 1978. The XL175 had a 173cc single cylinder OHC four-stroke engine mated to a 5-speed transmission and was started via a kickstarter only (no electric starter). The gauges included a speedometer and a tachometer up until 1976, when the tachometer was deleted for that and subsequent years. Braking was via front and rear cable operated drum brakes. The dimensions of the bike were 2,075x840x1,095mm (82x33x43in). Additional Information, Please Read Before Bidding Please only bid if you intend to buy.
