Vehicle Detail

Firstly, I am selling this vehicle for my daughter. It will be shown in Mahopac, NY. She bought another car and has decided to sell this one, after owning it for four years. The vehicle was originally from Florida. The color of the vehicle is actually Black Pearl, not Black. Condition: I will list the positive points and the negative points about this vehicle. PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE POINTS. This vehicle is being sold AS IS. Positive points: The six cylinder engine runs strong and idles smoothly. The transmission shifts nicely in the forward gears (please see the negative notes on the Reverse gear below). The following items all work fine: Electric seats, electric windows, clock, electric outside mirrors, electric radio antenna, outside temperature indicator, horn, speedometer, tachometer, and all gauges and indicators. Wiper, rear defogger, central locking system, sunroof, all lights inside and outside the vehicle. The tires are better in front than in the rear. (The rear tires will need replacing pretty soon). The mileage is low for a 1995 vehicle, only 112,150. The paint is original and quite good for its age. There's some slight cloudiness on the hood, but in general it is very shiny and smooth. The car has ABS brakes and four airbags and is built to be solid and safe, like every Mercedes-Benz automobile. Negative points: There is a problem with rainwater getting inside the front passenger area somewhere at the base of the windshield. Water runs into the passenger footwell. Due to this, the blower motor does not work from getting wet, as can be seen in the photos. The leak has to be addressed first, and then a new blower motor needs to be installed. On the internet, I've seen them listed at around $230. I had to pull up the carpeting in the passenger footwell and siphon out the water and dry the carpeting. I did not reinstall it, since it would only get wet again. All the parts are in the trunk, including the carpeting, the cover for the blower motor, cover for the cabin filter, the door sill cover and air ducting. The Reverse gear is slipping. Known as a "lazy reverse", it will manage to reverse the car on flat land, by shifting to Reverse, waiting 2-3 seconds until it slips into gear, and will slowly ease the car back, if little or no gas is given. It will most likely not be able to back up a hill. (Forward gears are fine). The brakes need replacing pretty soon, as I can feel a lip on the rotor edges. Due to the non-working blower motor, I am uncertain about whether or not the A/C blows cold. The radio does not work. Replacement on E-Bay, I've seen for $199. The Mercedes-Benz battery may need replacing soon. I charged it fully the other day, but since it was last replaced in March 2007, it is now over 4 years old, and so eventually it will struggle to hold a charge. The high-mounted 3rd brake light needs replacing. The two regular brakes lights do function normally. The windshield-washer does not work.. Not sure if the problem is the washer pump or possibly the relay. Recently the check-engine light was on when my daughter brought the car over. I used my OBD II reader to extract the codes, and then cleared them. They have not returned in a week's time so far. They were P0303 cylinder 3 issue, and P1750, transmission control module. I think the P0303 may indicate that a coil pack is going. These cost around $63 on the internet. There are three coil packs, one for each pair of cylinders. When the car starts up, it will occasionally stall once or twice, until one drives off in the vehicle, and then the stalling does not happen. I would recommend replacing the coil pack for cylinder 3, and I would replace the air flow sensor which is a common issue with these W202 cars, just to be safe. My daughter mentioned that a mechanic recommended that the right tie rod be replaced in the front end. I can hear a noise from that area so this is probably accurate. As far as the body of the vehicle, it has a little crack in the front bumper cover which is shown in the pictures. It has a very small dent in the upper portion of the right door, and two small dents in the roof, which are hard to see in the photos. Overall it's in very good shape for a 1995 vehicle. I think that about covers it. Please contact me with any questions, and thank you for looking at the car. On May-30-11 at 20:39:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction - the vehicle has two airbags, driver and passenger front. No door airbags were available in the 1995 model. On Jun-03-11 at 13:14:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: the third high-mounted brake light assembly was replaced and works now.
