I bought a 1988 Daytona that has the drive-train it should have. I do not have the motor mounts though. here is the info I got with it. I ran it through OCR so let me know if you have ant questions. I NTRODUCTI ON In 1978, Giuseppe Russo, an Italian-born citi~en who has been living in Brazil for 30 years, and his father decided to develop a unique, handcrafted, high performance sports car. For three years, design, planning, and testing occupied most of Giuseppe's waking hours. The first FARUS prototype made in fiberglass went through many modifications before it was introduced to the marketplace in 1981. Since then, oy~r 600 automobiles have been produced at the Embrabi-Comercio e Industria factory under the supervision of the talented Mr. Russo and his expert support staff. Mr. Russo states that he was inspired by Colin Chapman. the founder of the Lotus Group of Companies. and modeled his business plans after Mr. Chapman's. Mr. Russo retained the services of engineers. designers, and aerodynamic technicians who aided him in the ultimate production of the first vehicle in 1981. The body of the car is made from a single mold with an internal dismountable center mold. This procedure results in a one-piece body construction without any glued parts. .The body is molded in fiberglass, giving it an exceptionally strong resistance to impact. It is also light, weighing only 2,362.5 pounds including its engine, has no problem with corrosion. and requires little maintenance. One of the most important characteristics of the FARUS body is the way it is affixed to the 'chassis, totally independent and fixed with elastic unions which do not need mechanical care and aid to reduce noise levels in the interior. The independence of the body in relation to the mechanical components makes it lighter. In case of repairs. the ability to separate the chassis from the body also makes maintenance of the vehicle much easier. The chassis double steel-plated construction, is subjected to static tortion tests to determine its elastic limits and also to dynamic tortion tests. The chassis holds the motor (a special Chrysler 2.2 liter 4 cylinder overhead carn turbo charged engine) with balanced shafts and has an excellent distribution weight of 42% in the front and 58% in the rear. The suspension requires special springs with flexibility adjusted to cargo conditions and especially .o:djusted for real sports car performance. To aid in the erformance, oscillating arms were adopted to points of fixation that raised the center of rotation providing adequate variation of gear shifts and avoiding variation of casters. The variation of convergence in the function of the suspension level was avoided, adopting the correct position of the gear box provides divergence. The interior of the car carries with it the high standards as its performance. The driver and passenger seats are exceptionally designed using Recaro seats hand covered in leather by the FARUS factory. This provides long wear and comfort which the owner will appreciate on long trips. The design of the body also contributes to the driver's comfort and allows the driver to recline to"a 45-degree angle while driving. This does not affect the driver's visibility and provides maximum comfort to his body. The steering wheel is placed in such a manner that it requires minimum flexing of the arms while maneuvering, allowing perfect visibility of the instrument panel. A foam padded dashboard is hand covered with leather, resulting in a thermic and acoustic insulator, besides be~ng a shock reducer. Each door contains a ventilation system, allowing stale air to escape the interior of the car. The instrument panel shows speed, rpm, oil pressure, engine temperature, water temperature, fuel level and voltage. Besides needle indicators, strategically placed lights warn the driver of any irregularities in oil pressure, alternator, brake fluid level, high beam lights, hand brake, and directional and warning lights. In the center console integrated to the main panel, forced air is allowed to enter. This is integrated to the air conditioning system. The car is equipped with a Bosch AM/PM stereo cassette player with four speakers and tweeters. Windows of the car are rayban type and the windshield is tinted. Two outside windows operate electronically, as does the radio antenna. The two outside mirrors are remote controlled and the car carries a fullsized spare tire .. Since its introduction in 1981, the FARUS has been primarily manufactured for domestic use in Brazil. However, cars have been exported to Germany, South Africa, and Japan. Twelve cars were especially designed for the Gucci Organization of Brazil. This is the first opportunity for the American marketplace to enjoy the limited edition FARUS automobile, available in a hard top coupe and a cabriolet convertible. What is significantly important to the American consume~ is the association tnat the FARUS Organization has made with the Chrysler CBO Division. The FARUS automobile will have an engine and transmission serviceable throughout the United States. FARUS will provide limited warranties for not less than five years or 50,000 miles. It is our intention to stock within the United States substantial inventories of spare parts so as to enable the American sports car enthusiast to have his sports car serviced and repaired easily. In addition, the lucky purchaser of a FARUS automobile will receive through Pan Am and Dream Imports (the exclusive importer of the FARUS) a free round-trip ticket to Rio de Janeiro. At that time, besides enjoying the beautiful beaches of Copa Cabana, a FARUS representative will schedule a tour of one of the manufacturing facilities. t·; ., "
