Vehicle Detail

1947 Oldsmobile Club Sedan. This car belonged to my uncle in the late 1950s. As I recall a bearing or bearings went out of the engine. My dad was a barnyard mechanic so he took the engine apart and assessed what repairs were needed. My uncle then decided to buy a 49 Olds rather than repair this one. It was parked at our farm and we inherited it. Have clear title. Last licensed in 1960. I remember playing in it as a kid and loved the beautiful ivory steering wheel. Was black with red wheels. Unfortunately we didn't have a spare shed to store it in. It sat in a pasture about 15 years. Then we realized we might want to fix it someday so pulled it into the barnyard and kept weeds mowed around it. Still the paint, chrome and plastic weathered away over time. We kept it a long time thinking would be a great car to restore as most of the cars we started on were in a lot worse condition, but realize now this is a one we will never get to. Pretty straight and solid old car. Passenger door cap has large shallow dent. Passenger rear fender has a fist sized dent. The rockers feel solid. Havn't tried to tear up carpet but no obvious rustout in the floors. Looking underneath did see gas tank rusted out. Would make a sharp street rod. Straight 6 with automatic and coil springs all the way around. Most of the engine parts are there. There are half a dozen piston sets hanging in a shed, one of the sets came out of this, so if you have a rod casting number I can locate which ones they are. Pay in full at end of auction. You will need to arrange pickup. If you can't pick up right away that is not a problem. Understand with price of gas it helps to coordinate trips. If it will be more than 90 days please clear with me first. My schedule is pretty flexible, you just need to give me a couple days notice before you are coming so that I make sure I'm available to help you load. No reserve.
