1998 Lexus LS400  ** NEEDS TLC  ***NO RESERVE Overall condition is: "Good" Conditions, Features, & Etc... It has all the bells and whistles. But with this many miles it needs some TLC. Body exterior is in good condition and has no dings. The drivers mirror has some paint wear but there is a picture and the front right clip is scratched and the fog light is broken. Also there is a ding in the rear passenger brake light. Also the Rear Drivers side window needs to be replaced. AC Blows cold and Heat works. Interior is in fair condition with obviously wear signs seen on the drivers door and drivers/passenger armrest. Drivers Seat has a hole where the leather has worn. Also this car has been smoked in. The check engine light is on. Engine runs fair and the transmission seemed to not go into overdrive. I took the car to a local auto parts place and they put a code reader on the car. They said it needs PO171, PO753, PO1354, & PO1349. The gentleman I spoke with thought a Tune Up would solve these problems. It is running lean and it is throwing a VVT system malfunction. Plugs, Plug wires, possibly a Mass Airflow Sensor, Shift Solenoid, O2 Sensor, will probably clear the majority of the codes. I am not a mechanic! I am just relaying what I was told. It is your decision how major these trouble codes are to you. Once again this is my opinion and I am no mechanic. I am just relaying what I was told along with what I googled regarding the engine codes. While this car is driveable I would recommend that you rent a tow dolly for $40-$50 and tow this car. It can definately be repaired and the costs associated with a breakdown or any other engine problems is probably not worth it but that is your call. Bid with confidence and bid often.
