AMAZING CALIFORNIA BEAUTY - COULD BE THE NICEST ONE LEFT IN THE USA! 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false This fantastic automobile may be one the nicest examples remaining in the USA (or in the world for that matter) of one of the most desirable Mercedes Benz cars ever made. This model was designed and built exclusively for the American market. It was never available in Europe. Only about 8,000 were produced, which explains why this particular model is fast on its way to becoming a highly sought after collector’s edition vehicle. Many MB enthusiasts believe that this model has already reached collector’s rank in the marketplace. Coveted by Mercedes Benz enthusiasts worldwide, this is the super fuel-efficient, stylish and sleek, 300CD turbo diesel, two-door coupe. Additionally, the beautiful white and palomino paint/upholstery combination gives this particular specimen an exceptionally classical and stately appearance, indeed. People are always turning their heads when we drive up in this car. And, we get many compliments from those expressing their amazement with its superb condition and stylish visual impact. This is a 1985 production model—the last year for this sporty, yet frugal masterpiece of engineering. This model and production year is very rare. Since this particular car was manufactured at the end of the total production run, it has all of the best engineering advantages incorporated into the package. Mercedes Benz collectors know that the later the production year for a particular model, the more desirable the car. This is due to the factory’s commitment to constant design refinements and ongoing incorporation of the latest design improvements into the cars currently in production. This magnificent, collectible coupe delivers the best of all worlds—incredible fuel economy, safety, incomparable durability, and timeless style. The retail price for this car was $35,880.00 back in 1985. Many people drive their cars an average of 12,000 miles per year, or more. By that formula, this car should have over 300,000 miles on it. This car is a rare find, indeed! With its super-low mileage of just 131,153 (driven an average of just 5,044 miles per year) this legendary diesel power plant is really just broken in. It’s not uncommon to find these incredible engines with 500,000 miles on them, and more. In fact, there is a well-publicized MB owner that put over 1,000,000 (one-million) miles on his beloved diesel powered car. Not only do these cars win the contest for longevity, these MB diesel engines are also the smartest choice from the standpoint on maintenance. This is because there is no conventional ignition system, so tune-ups don’t require spark plugs, points, condenser, new wires, or the like. There is no distributor or distributor cap to replace either. Frugal prestige! The best of both worlds. Another factor that makes this particular vehicle unique is that it is a highly coveted California model. Car collectors know that California is blessed with an extremely car-friendly climate. This accounts for the fact that there is absolutely no rust on the car, and that the dash has no cracks or sun damage either. From the impeccable condition of the body and interior, to the super low mileage traveled, this vehicle looks, drives, and presents itself amazingly for its age, in every respect. NOTE: The mileage is correct and it is verifiable in the service records included. All original factory accessories are present, including the factory owner’s documents, owner’s manual, maintenance booklet, accessory collaterals, etc. The maintenance records confirm that this California beauty has been meticulously maintained. Of course, the spare wheel, jack, tool kit, original and spare keys, etc. are all present and like new. If you’ve been looking for one of these diesel coupes, you already know that these cars are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. And, it could be next to impossible to find another one in such wonderful condition, with such low mileage. If you have paid attention to the trend lately, you know that these coupes have continuously increased in value over the last few years. Wouldn’t you love to drive a car that increases in value each year? Well, here it is! Your investment will grow while you enjoy driving this fabulous machine. Recent trends show that this model is fast becoming one of the most sought-after Mercedes Benz cars of recent times. It wears the three-pointed star proudly, and does justice to the company’s reputation for exceptional quality. It is much better made than any of the newer models. You can feel and hear the difference the moment you close the door—when you experience that distinctive Mercedes door “thud” sound. This is one of the few classics cars that you can enjoy as a reliable, elegant, fuel efficient, daily vehicle. This is the most desirable and sought-after of the W123 chassis Mercedes Benz vehicles—the sporty, two-door coupe. If you are new to collecting Mercedes Benz cars, you’ll quickly learn that the W123 Mercedes are legendary cars with a reputation for reliability, longevity and durability. And, this particular engine represents the pinnacle of MB engineering. It is the bulletproof, all cast iron, million-mile-runner, five-cylinder workhorse. This engine has been known to go 500,000 miles or more before even needing valve work. Isn’t that incredible? Yes, every ½ million miles or so you may need to have the valves tended to! These cars are magical and incomparable. Once you have owned one of these, you will never go back to gasoline engines. With gasoline prices where they are now, and expected to go even higher, this car will likely pay for itself in fuel-efficiency within several years. Many MB enthusiasts believe that Daimler-Benz should have never stopped making this model. Another great thing about this car is that if you wanted to, you could adapt it to run on used vegetable (waste oil) which comes from fast-food restaurants. The waste oil is free. Once converted, you would then have no fuel cost whatsoever. NOTE: This engine is completely stock, however, without the waste-oil conversion. Features include: 4-speed automatic transmission with torque converter, power assisted steering, electronic cruise control, automatic climate control, central locking system, tinted glass, electronic window lifts, electronically heated rear window, 2-speed windshield wipers with 5-second interval mist control, fully independent suspension, power assisted four wheel disk brakes, forged light alloy wheels, Michelin steel belted radial-ply tires, electronic AM/FM stereo radio with cassette player, automatic antenna with selective height adjustment, fully adjustable front bucket seats, front and rear center folding arm rests, tachometer, parcel nets, electronically operated right outside mirror, halogen head lamps, halogen fog lamps, brake pad warning indicator, illuminated sun visor vanity mirrors, and even first aid kit mounted in the rear deck. Here’s the best part of all: The car is absolutely a pleasure to drive! The engine starts right up, even when cold. The transmission shifts correctly. The turbo charger gives the car plenty of acceleration power when needed. The steering is tight and responsive. The brakes stop superbly with no pull or shutter. All of the lights, power windows, power sunroof, A/C, heating, etc. work superbly. And, I just want to emphasize here that the power sun/moon roof really makes this car a lot of fun to sport around town in, or to take on a sunny country road drive. We would never have considered selling this car; however, we just have too many vehicles, and not enough garage space. We bought two of these amazing cars four years ago from a German gentleman in Los Angeles. We purchased this white one, and we also purchased another black one, simultaneously. Both of the cars are in exceptional condition. As soon as we picked this car up in LA, we took it directly to our favorite independent MB garage in Oxnard (Dieter’s Import Motors) to verify that all the factory scheduled service work was up to date. Dieter is a German-born mechanic who immigrated here and then worked for MBNA as a mechanic for many years before opening his own garage. If you purchase this car, we highly recommend his family owned and operated independent Mercedes service garage. Dieter’s son, Lothar, personally checked-over the vehicle and performed the required service work. And, of course, all scheduled maintenance work has been performed and documented since Lothar’s work, to the preset time. And, now, all scheduled maintenance is up-to-date, including the transmission fluid/filter change, valve adjustment, all filters and fluids changed, etc. Additionally, we just recently replaced all of the tires with the correct ones for the vehicle: Michelin X Radial P195/70 R14. We've been so meticulous about the care and maintenance for this car that we insisted on the dealer recommended body shop for the repair of a minor fender-bender we had with the car a couple of years ago, and they did an amazing job--just like new in every way! The car is ready to go, with a new A/C compressor, new water pump, new water pump housing, new A/C condenser, new belts, new ball joints, new right front window regulator, new blower motor, and lots more new parts.
