1968 DODGE DART GT - 225/904/7.25 --- Time to say goodbye to my little fart Dart!!!! Too many projects and too little time. I would REALLY like this car to go to someone who has the knowledge, tenacity and know how to turn it into the jewel it deserves to be. It would make an AWESOME 6 cyl resto project or perhaps you want to go all out and build a Screamer 340, 440 or HEMI DreamMachine, here is your ideal core. If you have ever had the pleasure of owning a great running 6 cylinder car, you will find this car especially appealing. ••• This car is a real attention getter. PEOPLE LOVE DARTS!!! And Yellow Darts have a mesmerizing effect on the public. THE STORIES I COULD TELL YOU!!!! The really GREAT thing about this car is that it is TOTALLY BONE STOCK. NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED!!!! The Rallye Wheels are the only addition to this car (let's face it, a 68 Dart's GOTTA have Rallyes, right??) EVERYTHING else is exactly as it came from the factory. It even has the original Points ignition. Talk about Reference restoration, this is it! EXTERIOR: This Dart came originally with a Black Vinyl top which was removed before I purchased the car. I am not a big fan of Vinyl tops, so I planned to go without it. If you have ever seen an older Chrysler sans Vinyl top, the surface is fairly rough. This is the case with this Dart. You will need an experienced Body Man to smooth out the surface or go back to the Vinyl Top look. •••• This Dart will need patch panels on the rear wheelweels front and back. They currently have filler. But a great paint job will require them to be metal patched. The Car does not need new quarterpanels. •••• This Dart will need the rear window bottoms repaired. They also have filler, but for a final great paint job they will need to be metal patched. ---- HardCore Dart owners will tell you this is "Par for the Course" with almost all Dodge Dart Restos. THIS CAR IS NOT A RUST BUCKET, Just needs some Body work TLC in certain areas. NO SURPRISES!!!! Car is straight overall, but has it's share of parking lot dings acquired over the years. EZ fix for any Body Shop. Car has been spot painted in areas where body work has been done. You will see this in person, kinda hard to notice in the photos. DOORS close nicely and are properly aligned, locks work. Windows all work nicely and cranks rotate freely. All glass is clear and unscratched. REAR FINISH PANEL: Has usual accoutrement of dents, will need to be replaced. Okay for Street or Race. ••• MANY, MANY GREAT ORIGINAL FEATURES ON THIS CAR. 225 DODGE CHARGER ENGINE: This is the high performance version of the 6 cylinder. This engine came red with an orange valve cover as opposed to the other 225 plain jane motors that were blue. ENGINE RUNS, but barely. It was run on unleaded gas and the valve seals are gone (these engines required leaded gasoline). A simple cylinder head rework featuring hardened valve seats would restore it back to it's original condition. Car has enough power to drive onto trailer for transport, but you CANNOT drive it home. NEW HOLLEY ONE BARREL CARB, NEW ACCEL COIL, NEW POINTS, CAP, ROTOR AND WIRES. 904 TRANS has never missed a beat. Fluid is still bright cherry red. 7 1/4 rear runs quiet with many years left. 9 inch brakes are weak, but good enough to get you home. INTERIOR: One word best describes the interior: UNMOLESTED. Bucket Seats, Console and Air Conditioning to boot! Previous owner had the seats reupholstered and they look great! I replaced the Dash Pad, but the instrument panel and other interior parts are original. Back seat has a few seams that will need restitched. All the armrests are soft and perfect. Door panels are in absolute SHOW condition with absolutely flawless GT emblems. The door panels have never been off the car. Headliner will need some of the stitching repaired.•••• PLEASE NOTE: Driver floorboard will need replaced as well as carpet.
