This is really an amazing car that is in good shape now—with some effort and a few aftermarket parts, this car will out handle just about anything on the road (really, a set of performance springs/struts does everything for one of these). NOTE: The car is in great mechanical shape--it will pass smog and drive just great anywhere you want to go. Originally purchased for $21,000 ($46,000 in 2010 dollars) by a friend of mine in 1984, the car has been quite well cared for, and received a great deal of mechanical care when I took the car over in 2007. The cosmetics will be what needs work next. The paint, though shiny still, is the original paint! There are a couple of small door dings on the passenger side and chips on the hood, and the top where the windshield meets the body had some rust that was ground out and treated (roughly covered with primer and painted to protect the area until a professional re-painting of the car is to be done. The window tint (also original) is starting to peel at the edges, the seat bottom seams are separating and the dash top is covered by a nice carpet because the typical cracking has occurred in one spot. The car still looks good, but with a little cosmetic care, the car will be fantastic, especially because no teenagers have ever 'modified' the car with cheap parts to impress their friends. No CD player, since it is so much easier to plug in the iPod or pop music on a flash drive. Although I have personally spent $7,000 in the past few years on this car (I used an actual mechanic, as opposed to doing a bunch of shoddy home-tinkering), I got every cent back in driving enjoyment. Now that I have a kid on the way, I need a bigger vehicle. According to my mechanic and the general market, the car is worth about $4,000 in its current condition.
