Vehicle Detail
This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible is a good condition driveable car and restorable ready! The car has been in the family since 1972, original color was dark purple. It was repainted shortly after it was purchased and has been garaged ever since. Mileage when purchased in 1972 was 84k and nearly all 13k since then has been short trips around town during nice weather. It did see some highway driving on occasion. Mechanical - The engine runs well and the manual transmission shifts well. After sitting through the winter the carburator needs to be primed to start, but after that it starts right up and runs smootly. If you run the car frequently, this is not an issue. The brakes need some work, I assume all is needed are new brake lines. Exterior - The body is in better than average shape. This car turn heads when driving around town. Recently while I was taking pictures of the car prior to selling on Ebay Auto I received a comment asking if it was just painted. It does look impressive at a distance however the paint is faded, few chips and a little rust behind the front wheels and around door frames. (shown in pictures). The chrome and lights are in excellent condition. The converitble top is aged with a few very small holes and does not have a rear window. The top does raise and lower easily by hand. A new white top comes with the car (no rear window). Windows work, however front driver's side window has fallen off the frame. Door latches are in working condition. The car has new tires, less than 2000 miles. There is no spare tire. Interior - Dash board is in great shape. All instruments are working except for the radio, perhaps it just needs to be wired. All seats are original and have some tears. Door panels are in fair condition with the armrests showing some wear. The floor carpeting is in average condition. So your choice to do a thorough cleaning or repair/replace if going to restore. Overall this is a nice restorable, running car. The car does need some attention. I just don't have the time and money to do it. If you have any questions, please email me and I will be glad to answer as much as I can. I am not a Corvair guy (my dad was) but I can try to answer any questions you may have. Winner must make a down payment of $200 within 48 hours of auction close and balance is due upon pick-up. It will make fairly short trips, but other than that hauling home by trailer might be best. Cash in person for pick-up or I will accept Paypal or Postal Money Orders for payment. All payment needs to clear before the car can be taken. Thanks for looking!
