1985 vw with approx. 160,000 miles. I purchased this car 2 - 3 years ago when the odometer read 154,531. A while ago the odometer started doing some crazy things. Now it reads 754,759. A good estimate of the miles I put on it since I bought it would be around 5,000 miles. I bought it from a lady who had put money into a top, tires,brakes, and clutch. She stated she was not going to put more into it when it needed an alternator. I purchased it and had new alternator , exhaust, distributor, timing belt, fuel injection lines, belts, engine mount, temperature sender. I decided to put the money into it when I took it to my mechanic who did a compression test on it and said that the compression on all 4 cylinders read like new specs. The car runs great, shifts great and looks pretty good for its age. Things you could pick on would be the top leaks with heavy rains where the front windows meet the top, body has tiny spec of rust here and there, when you roll up drivers side window you have to give the glass a gentle push outwards to close to the convertible top, top has tiny tear on the inside only, and the seats are worn. This car does not smoke and does not burn any oil. This would make a great little car for someone who wants to save money on gas. This car does have surf stickers on it. I am 42 years old and do not hot rod around with it. My kids are too young to drive and were embarrassed when I would pick them up at school in this not so masculine car so they decided to buy me some cool stickers to help me out. Would like to add that the pictures dont show the small imperfections here and there of small paint chips and that the back seats are more stained in person than they appear in photos. tires are better than 50%. Feel free to ask any questions. I see that ebay has run a car fax on this car. I do believe from having this car for a few years that 160,000 miles would be an accurate guess . One day the car will read 700,000 miles then the next will read 900,000 then a few days later it could read 50,000 .
