Vehicle Detail
This is a fine example of a Midget. It came from California. I picked it up in 2006 while there. It had been stored since 1986 as he had some trouble with the front wheels. I put on the front wheels, using an example from second car I picked up for parts. As a result, it has very nice, virtually rust free body. I picked up some additional parts, such as fuel pump, timing kit, new battery, brake pads, starter, etc. and then it sat. Other things took up my time. I never did get it running, other than to turn over. So it will need some work to be sure, with some effort put in, but not enough to finish. Now, I find, it has either shrunk or else I have grown. Probably the latter, ha. I feel like I'm doing the limbo to get in and especially out. It is really a glorified go cart, but these are the coolest cars! As you can tell from the pictures, it has a nice retractable roof, in actually pretty good condition. It has a nice roll bar. Everything appears to be original. Front driver's seat sags slightly, but other than that, everything intact. It has the 1275cc engine as I understand it. I purchased some manuals and various trouble shooting guides, etc. It has a spare, and a cover to go on with the roof down (it is called a tonneau cover I believe). Precious little erosion on the car, other than slight bubbling in a couple of spots. Looking at the floorboards and trunk, wheelwells, lovely. It even has the old California plates. (It is hard to believe how well cars preserve over there). I have some paperwork on the car. A signed owner certificate from the original owner. Then a bill of sale to me, but I did not go through the hassle of changing over anything here in Texas. There are various other documents related to the car, that the new owner can have. Hence, I'm pricing this at a reasonable price. (In Texas you have some hoops to go through to get registered in cases like this). It can be done, but it is a bit of a hassle. I checked a couple of years back. What else can I tell you. Few extra parts of course. It seems there are common things that need attention when one resumes work on these from reading other posts when I was more in tune with checking on this car. Seems to me, things like slave master cylinder, probably carbs as they have been sitting, stuff like that. Oh yes, put on a new emergency brake. Most places can list this car as antique, thus avoiding any new smog regulations. *Shipping will be the responsibility of the new owner. This listing accidently got blipped off in the process of clarifying something with ebay and had to be relisted. On May-06-11 at 09:35:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of interest and rightfully so. This is a sweet little car, that has some of the elements that bring enthusiasm to the sports car genre. It has a body that is in fine shape, having sat in a garage in California for 20 years. The motor, I don't know what it will take exactly, and I wasn't about to spend a bunch of money at a shop to learn, as unless you have someone that knows these cars, my mechanics have these quizzical looks on their faces when they look under the hoods of these. Anyway, I did want to address the title situation. Being it is an older title, it is simply called, and it is official, a certificate of title. It is signed both by the original owner and the gentleman I bought it from, as well as some other documents and a signed bill of sale to me. I'm just trying to clarify. I had drawn up a list to title in Texas and then lost interest in the project before pursuing, and it wasn't the title req's that made me lose interest. I seemed to just move on to other stuff (motorcycles to be exact and a boat) So as to what they will require in each state, it may be as simple as taking these documents and title to a dmv and having an immediate change or maybe more involved. I don't know. You will not likely find a car as well preserved body wise and underneath as such, as this one. Thanks.
