Vehicle Detail
Triumph TR3 1957, last of the small mouth triumphs, and getting harder to find each year. This car was last registered in Missouri in 1992, and had undergone an amateur restoration around that time. I am a professional restorer and would normally not let this car leave my possesion, but I have two cars ahead of this one and prefer that some other person restore it now, rather then have it sitting unrestored for another year or more.. That being said, this car has a strong engine (CT54445E) which should be a 66 or so tr4A engine. There is no smoke, no noises, great oil pressure, and runs on all four cylinders evenly. The gearbox is fine, as is the differential, as near as I can determine by driving it a short distance. All the gauges work, as does the tach and speedometer. This is the first time the car has been running for perhaps 5 years. The brakes, and clutch hydraulics will all need to be redone, the exhaust system will need to be replaced. The frame of the car appears to be fairly solid but I'm sure there will be some welding to be done to make it 100%, The body appears good in the pictures, but the floor pans, inner and outer rocker panels will have to be replaced, they were partially covered over with sheet metal at last restoration attempt. The interior is quite good as a driver, the top is serviceble to keep the water out, but is brittle and of not much value otherwise. The side curtains are with the car, and will need restoration as well. There will still be body panels that will need rust repair after the floors are replaced, but everything else should be able to be repaired depending upon the level of perfection you require. The spare tire floor is ok, the trunk floor under the gas tank needs to be repaired. The bumper parts not visible are in the trunk, the spare tire is in the boot. If you are a restorer, you should comprehend the condition from my description, it is a typical rusty tr3, but very restorable, and perhaps 98% complete,. If you are an amateur restorer, this could be made to be a driver by redoing the brake system, front suspension, and the clutch hydraulics. . Even though it runs, and I drove the car down my country road, this car is NOT DRIVABLE and will need to be trailered to its destination. I will supply more pictures and/or answer any and all questions if you need more information. This car will continue to appreciate in value in the coming years, and they are now in short supply, great investment for the average guy.
